Inter coach Simone Inzaghi insisted that he was still keen to utilise midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, despite suggestions that he will move on after the impressive form of Hakan Calhanoglu.

The Croatia international has suffered an injury-hit season and seen his place as the deep-lying midfielder go to Calhanoglu, with the former AC Milan man impressing in his new role, but returns to the starting line-up for today’s Serie A match against Bologna.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia before kick-off at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Inzaghi insisted that Brozovic was still an important part of his plans going forward, whilst offered an update on injured duo Federico Dimarco and Milan Skriniar.

“We all know the importance Brozovic has for us, he’s fine, he played against Udinese and then he came on very well against Porto,” the former Lazio coach said.

“I made some assessments, Acerbi and Barella initially remain out because they are the ones who have played the most. Dimarco and Skriniar tried to grit their teeth and play through the pain, but they didn’t make it for today, let’s hope they’ll join us next time.

“Playing so regularly, it is normal that there are some strains in training. We have some injuries, but it happens to teams that play a lot.

“I have the utmost confidence in who will play, it will not be an easy match against a strong opponent who are doing well.”

Inter suffered defeat the last time they visited Bologna, in April of last year, but Inzaghi was keen to move on from the costly loss.

“You know, it’s normal to say it’s a memory. Let’s not forget that in the last 11 games of last season we had 10 wins, including the Coppa Italia final. We come here with that memory, but to give consistency in results,” he concluded.

Inter are seeking a fourth league win in five games since suffering a defeat to Empoli last month.
