The lack of a real Plan B for tough matches has proven to be one of the major faults of coach Simone Inzaghi at Inter.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who argue that while the coach’s ability to devise match plans for the biggest occasions can hardly be questioned, he can be too one-note in grinding out results week to week.

Inter have certainly looked at their best in their most high-profile matches since the return from the winter break, putting in top performances to beat the likes of Napoli, AC Milan, Atalanta, and Porto.

It has been in the “smaller” matches that the team has sometimes appeared to go out on the pitch without the drive or desire to go beyond the usual formalities.

In the view of the Gazzetta, blame for this has to be laid at the feet of the coach, who seems to struggle to switch things up when his normal formation and match-plan is starting to look stale.
