Italian journalist Alfio Musmarra is doubtful that current Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will remain at the club past the end of the current season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Telelombardia, via FCInter1908, the journalist then went on to suggest that not only would Bologna coach Thiago Motta be a candidate to replace the 46-year-old, but potentially even a bigger name.

Inzaghi’s future on the bench at Inter has been a topic of speculation at various points during the current season.

The team’s mediocre recent run of results has meant that these discussions have flared up over the past few days, whilst given Motta’s links to the Nerazzurri from his playing days, the 40-year-old could emerge as a very logical candidate to replace the current coach.

For his part, Musmarra feels that there are also other possibilities, with Inter and Inzaghi likely to part ways during the summer ahead of next season.

“I really don’t think that Inzaghi will stay Inter coach next season, I think there could be a very positive surprise too,” he said.

“Everyone has been talking about Thiago Motta, but I think there could be an even bigger name,” he continued.

Musmarra then noted that “Obviously, nothing is written in stone today.”
