Inter President Steven Zhang feels that the Nerazzurri have reached where they belong by booking their place in the last eight of the Champions League.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after his team’s 0-0 draw against Porto to win their round of sixteen tie on aggregate, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President gave his reaction to the match and emphasized that this is where they belong.

It has been more than a decade since Inter were last in the quarterfinals of Europe’s top club competition.

However, a goalless draw at the Estadio do Dragao was enough to take Simone Inzaghi and his players into the latter stages of the competition, considering that they had won the first leg of the tie.

It was not easy against a Porto who showed their quality, organization, and intensity for the full ninety minutes, but in the end Inter proved that they can go deep into the Champions League.

“This is an exciting night,” Zhang said, “we’re finally able to compete in the latter stages of European competition.”

“Inter should always be here,” the President continued.

“It’s been an arduous work that’s gone on for years, it’s taken a lot of sacrifices, and this achievement is an important vindication of what we’ve done,” he reflected.

“We’re very motivated to do even better in the next round,” Zhang continued, “all of the possible opponents will be difficult.”

“Our goal is to compete at the highest levels, it’s a must for this club.”

“We’re really happy to have gotten there here, and it will be great to return to Milan,” the President concluded.
