Inter looked like the Jose Mourinho vintage in yesterday’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg draw away to Porto, in the view of Italian media.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, praise Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi for getting the kind of performance out of his team that would call to mind the version that played under one of the most successful coaches in the club’s history.

Inter needed to stay switched-on for ninety minutes, using all of their physicality and organization to keep Porto at bay up until stoppage time at the Estadio do Dragao.

Then, in the seven minutes added on at the end, the Nerazzurri faced an onslaught which required some heroic last-ditch defending by Andre Onana and Denzel Dumfries, and they even rode their luck as the Portuguese hit the frame of the goal twice in the space of a couple minutes.

However, the Corriere contend, the Nerazzurri more than deserved a bit of luck for their efforts.

Inter came to Porto with a clear intention of playing with their backs to the wall, and they did so with aplomb, seeing out the second clean sheet of the tie.

In the view of the Corriere, this looked like a team coached by Mourinho, and was a testament to the ability of Inzaghi to organize his defense.
