Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni’s entourage are pushing for the player to see out his contract with the Nerazzurri and leave on a free transfer, but the player’s only intention is to remain at Inter.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, who report that the 23-year-old has made clear that he is only interested in staying at the Nerazzurri, and wants to extend his contract past the end of June 2024.

Inter met with Bastoni’s representatives today, to try and make progress in contract extension talks regarding a player who they are certainly keen to not lose on a free transfer as is set to happen with his defensive teammate Milan Skriniar.

There is still some way to go before Inter’s offer and the player’s demands come together, although according to SportItalia the 23-year-old is only thinking about an Inter stay.

However, this is different from his representatives, SportItalia claims, who are pushing for the defender to instead see out his contract so that he can leave at the end of next season on a free transfer as Skriniar has done this campaign.

Therefore, Inter could be worried that Bastoni’s entourage will push for the free transfer, even if the player has stressed that he wants to stay.

Bastoni joined Inter in 2017 from Atalanta, and made his debut for the Nerazzurri first team under Antonio Conte in the 2019-20 season, following loan spells back at La Dea and then at Parma.

The 23-year-old has made 148 appearances for Inter across all competitions since joining the club, scoring four goals in the process and winning the Serie A title, two Supercoppa Italiana trophies, and the Coppa Italia so far.

Bastoni’s most recent contract extension came in the summer of 2021, but runs out at the end of next season with the Nerazzurri keen to extend.
