Inter are set to smash their gate receipt record for the San Siro in this evening’s Champions League quarterfinal second leg match against Benfica.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri will earn over €8 million from the 75,300 spectators expected for this evening’s match.
Inter supporters have never wavered in their attendance at the San Siro this season, with the Gazzetta noting that even with the team’s often erratic form in the league, the average attendance for Inter home matches remains above 72,500.
In the Champions League it has been more of the same story in this sense, as the excitement has always been high around the Nerazzurri’s European campaign, and only building more in recent weeks.
With over four thousand Benfica supporters also travelling to be in attendance at this evening’s match to make up a full complement of away support, the San Siro will be an absolute packed house for this evening’s match, as both teams play for a place in the final four of Europe’s top club competition.
With the pricing of tickets, this sellout crowd will see the Nerazzurri go well beyond their previous record for gate receipts at their stadium.
That record had been set in a Champions League match as well, a group stage clash with Barcelona on December 11th, 2019, during Antonio Conte’s first season in charge.
On that occasion, the total gate receipt revenues that Inter took in were €7,889,495.
This time around, Inter are set to comfortably exceed those takings, with over €8 million expected to be earned for this evening’s clash with Benfica.
Inter will be aiming to put their woeful recent form in Serie A behind them by making good on their two-goal advantage from the first leg against Benfica and booking their place in the Champions League semifinals.
