Inter President Steven Zhang feels that winning the Champions League would no longer just be a distant dream for the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the team reached the semifinals of the competition with a 3-3 draw against Benfica at the San Siro, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President expressed his optimism that the team can keep their adventure in Europe alive.

Inter are now just two matches away from the biggest match in European club competition, the Champions League final.

If they were to get there, then they could really start to dream of something special.

Of course, the reality is that getting to the final will be the toughest of tasks, a two-legged Milan derby semifinal against AC Milan next month.

Then, if Inter were to get past the Rossoneri, they would have to face one of Manchester City or Real Madrid, certainly two of Europe’s most formidable teams.

However, the fact that the Nerazzurri have already overcome the likes of Barcelona, Porto, and now Benfica to get where they are can be reason for hope, and this is the view of Zhang.

Asked if the Champions League is still just a dream, the President replied that “I don’t think we have to call it a dream any longer, we can really think about achieving it.”

“i’m certainly proud of having reached the semifinals of the Champions League,” he continued.

“We started our with no experience in this competition, the team hadn’t won it for a long time, now we’re not only competing, but we could go all the way – for us this is a great satisfaction.”

Zhang also noted that the Serie A top four top four race is also still vital, stating that “The league is fundamentally important for us, it will be like eight finals.”
