Inter’s place in the Coppa Italia is a well-deserved one after Juventus failed to come up with any answers in yesterday evening’s semifinal second leg.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who praised the Nerazzurri’s performance to see off Juventus 1-0, and conversely criticize a limp display by the Bianconeri who never looked like finding a way back into the match.

Inter may have felt that they had some home advantage behind them, but they’ll hardly have underestimated how formidable of a task it would be to get past a Juventus team who had beaten them home and away in the league this season.

However, there was little fear shown by the Nerazzurri’s performance particularly in the first half, where Simone Inzaghi’s team were the side asking all the questions, and rewarded for their efforts with an early lead courtesy of Federico Dimarco.

In the view of Tuttosport, this was the least Inter deserved based on their first-half display.

Given that Dimarco’s goal only came in the fifteenth minute, however, it always seemed likely that the Nerazzurri would have a lot of hanging on to do in a fixture which is never easy for them.

But contrary to this, Tuttosport note, it was if anything Inter who looked likelier to double their advantage than Juventus being able to break through.

Whilst the Bianconeri had over 75 minutes and the majority of possession with which to try and break Inter down, they looked very short on ideas.

Inter’s backline and collective defensive effort are to be credited for a vital clean sheet, but in the view of Tuttosport, the attacking performance by Juventus simply wasn’t enough.

The team as a whole looked disjointed, the key players in attack did not have a telling impact, and in the end Max Allegri’s men must watch the final on television instead of playing it, and deservedly so.
