Inter Milan legend Nicola Berti praises Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi’s work, and prefers Romelu Lukaku over Edin Dzeko.

The 56-year-old admits that Inzaghi had a rough start this season, but feels that the manager deserves credit for leading the team to the semi-final of the Champions League and the final of the Coppa Italia.

Berti reckons that despite all the troubles endured this season, Inter Milan’s campaign remains better than some of the other top European clubs.

“I like the team’s displays at the moment. It’s normal for a club like Inter to be criticized: they are among the top Europe sides and every defeat raises eyebrows,” said the former midfielder in an interview with ItaSportPress via FcInterNews.

“Inzaghi is doing a good job. It’s true, at the beginning of the season he made some mistakes, but now we’re in the semi-final of the Champions League against Milan and in the final of the Coppa Italia.

“There are teams that are out of all competitions. So if Inter’s season is a bankruptcy, what did we leave for others?!”

On another note, Berti prefers to start with Romelu Lukaku instead of Edin Dzeko in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Milan which is set to take place at the San Siro on May 10.

The Inter Milan legend feels that the Belgian is in a better form than the Bosnian as proven by his recent outings, so he can give the team something extra up front.

“If you ask me as a pure Inter fan if I prefer Romelu Lukaku or Edin Dzeko, I say Lukaku has been doing better lately.

“He made two sensational assists against Lazio. Right now, I choose the Belgian. Even for the semifinal against Milan.

“Lukaku is someone who fights for every ball and sacrifices himself. He scores goals and assists, and reacted well after the exaggerated criticisms.

“It would be nice if we beat Milan thanks to a brace from Lukaku.”
