Fabio Maresca will be the referee in charge of the crucial showdown between AS Roma and Inter Milan in the 34th Match Day of Serie A.

This will be a direct clash in the intriguing battle for the Top Four spots. Aside from the Giallorossi and the Nerazzurri, four other clubs are indulged in the race to finish in Champions League spots. These are Lazio, Juventus, Milan and Atalanta.

The Beneamata are riding a three-match win streak with their most recent exploit coming at the expense of Hellas Verona, pummeling the relegation strugglers with six unanswered goals.

On the contrary, Roma are without a win in their last three matches. Although they dropped to 7th place in the standings, a win would see them overtake Inter who are only two points ahead.

FcInter1908 reports that 42-year-old Maresca will officiate this crucial battle. However, Inter are yet to taste victory while sharing the pitch with the Napoli native in Serie A this season.

Maresca was in charge of two previous Inter league fixtures this campaign. The first ended in a goalless draw against Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium back in February, while the second was the 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Fiorentina on April 1.

However, Maresca was the match official in Inter’s triumphant Italian Super Cup contest against Milan, when they swept past their crosstown rivals with three unanswered goals.

This season, the 42-year-old was in charge of 12 Serie A fixtures in total. He handed 59 yellow cards, two red cards and two penalty kicks.
