Inter Milan have reportedly set their sights on Folarin Balogun as a potential replacement for Joaquin Correa this summer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri will be looking to maintain Romelu Lukaku’s services while bidding Edin Dzeko farewell.
For his part, Correa will most likely leave if Inter were to receive an interesting proposal, possibly from Turkey, with Balogun taking his place in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.
The 21-year-old is an Arsenal youth player who enjoyed a sensational campaign on loan at Stade Reims. He bagged 21 goals and provided three assists in his 37 Ligue 1 appearances.
This summer, he will return to his parent club, but the Gunners will be looking to monetize on him as they attempt to raise funds before launching their expected onslaught on West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.
As the source tells it, Inter could come forward with a loan proposal, but Arsenal would prefer a permanent sale while setting their price at 40 million euros.
Balogun has represented both the United States and England on the youth levels, but should make his senior debut with the USMNT in the coming days.
For his part, Correa had followed Simone Inzaghi from Lazio to Inter back in 2021, but hasn’t been able to unlock a starting berth in the presence of his compatriot Lautaro Martinez.
The 28-year-old still has a contract that ties him to the Nerazzurri until 2025, but he’ll be probably looking to find himself a new accommodation where he can feature on a more prominent basis.
