Former Catania defender Nicolas Spolli feels that Inter Milan have done well during a very difficult transfer window.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the former defender called the summer transfer window “slow and gruelling” and named the Nerazzurri as the team to have done the second-best business after their city rivals AC Milan.
Now, the transfer window is history.
Three months of signings, speculation, and rumours are over and done with.
For some teams it was not a very eventful summer – but for Inter, it certainly was one.
The Nerazzurri made one big money sale in the form of Andre Onana. Important players from recent seasons like Edin Dzeko and Marcelo Brozovic followed the Cameroonian out the door.
Twelve players left all told.
And replacing them came the same number – a dozen new signings – plus the return of Stefano Sensi.
Meanwhile, Inter’s city rivals AC Milan also had a very eventful summer window.
It is still far too early to say which teams have had the most impactful or successful summer windows.
But the amount of upheaval at Inter and Milan has certainly caught the eye early on. As has the fact that both teams have enjoyed perfect records to start – with the Nerazzurri facing Fiorentina tomorrow.
Spolli Praises Inter & AC Milan In “Slow & Gruelling” Summer Transfer Window
“It’s been a slow and gruelling transfer window,” former defender Spolli said. “Exhausting.”
Regarding who he feels had the best window, Spolli said “Milan. Because they’ve made European-level signings.”
“And then Inter also had a very good window.”
“Roma also had quite an interesting window,” the former defender argued.
Spolli also weighed in on who he thought had a disappointing summer window.
He named “Lazio, because I expected that they would do more.”
“However, I always leave it to the pitch to be the judge,” he added.
