Antoine Griezmann feels that Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram and PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani can make a big impact for France.
Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the Atletico Madrid forward described the two strikers as “the kind of player you don’t see anymore.”
Both of Thuram and Muani are turning into important players for France.
Last season, both of the pair played in the Bundesliga – Thuram for Borussia Monchengladbacgh, and Muani for Eintracht Frankfurt.
And over the summer, both secured big moves.
Thuram joined Inter on a free transfer after his contract with Gladbach expired.
And Muani made the big money to join Paris Saint-Germain.
These transfers to top clubs signified the degree to which both strikers’ reputations have risen over the past couple of season.
And both have started to become important options in attack for France. Both Thuram and Muani were part of the French team that reached the World Cup final in Qatar, with both appearing as substitutes in the final itself.
Griezmann Praises Marcus Thuram & Randal Kolo Muani
After showcasing their abilities at the World Cup, both of Thuram will now vie for a more central position in the Les Bleus squad.
The French team will have to phase Olivier Giroud out sooner or later. And Karim Benzema is also out of the picture.
Therefore, both Thuram and Muani could have the chance to become the focal point for their national side for years to come.
And in the view of Griezmann, there is a particular stylistic reason why they could each be well-suited to do so.
The Atletico striker said of the pair that “Both can play in the centre. Or even on the left, although I think Marcus can play on the left more easily.”
“They’re complete players,” he continued. “They can score off the dribble, score with headers, they look for space in behind.”
“Teams often need that,” Griezmann noted.
“They’re the kind of players that you don’t see very often anymore,” he added, “Because now everyone wants to play more with the ball at their feet.”
“We need strikers, attackers who can run in behind,” he said.
