Inter Milan are close to breaking their own record for gate receipts in a Serie A match with this evening’s Milan derby.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that the Nerazzurri will bring in around €6.5 million in revenues from the clash with AC Milan at the San Siro this evening.

The day is finally here – Inter and Milan return from the international break to square off in the derby.

This evening’s match pits the only two teams left with perfect records in Serie A against one another. At least one of those winning runs will have to come to an end.

Therefore, on top of the usual significance of the derby, this meeting between city rivals has the feeling of a potential title-decider even after just a few matches.

Naturally, anticipation is high.

The Milan derby is always a match that tends to sell out. And this evening’s edition of the fixture is no exception to that rule.

And as the Gazzetta notes, the gate receipt revenues come close to breaking a record for Inter in terms of league fixtures.

Inter Milan To Bring In €6.5M In Gate Receipt Revenues For The Derby

Nominally, this evening’s match at the San Siro is a home match for Inter.

This means that the majority of the fans in the stadium will be Nerazzurri supporters. And it also means that Inter are the team who will take in the revenues from the gate receipts.

According to the Gazzetta, these will come to around €6.5 million.

That is not even close to Inter’s record for gate receipt earnings in a single match in any competition.

The second leg of the Champions League semifinal against the Rossoneri last season saw Inter bring in around €12 million – nearly double what they are earning from this evening’s derby clash.

But in Serie A, only one match has seen Inter earn more than they are set to this evening.

A match against Juventus on October 6, 2019 brought in €6.6 million. This evening’s derby doesn’t reach that high, although it’s certainly not far off.
