Stirker Marcus Thuram has earned praise for his performances in yesterday evening’s Serie A clash between Salernitana and Inter Milan.

As L’Interista highlight, the Frenchman received positive scores in the player ratings for the match across Italian media.

Thuram got yet another start for Inter yesterday evening in Salerno.

The 26-year-old has started in every one of the Nerazzurri’s matches in Serie A so far this season. On the other hand, he got a rest at the start of the Champions League opener against Real Sociedad.

Thuram’s role was a little different however.

This was because Inter captain Lautaro Martinez began the match on the bench.

With the Argentine, more of an out-and-out centre-forward absent and Alexis Sanchez partnering Thuram instead, the dynamic of Inter’s front two changed a bit.

Sanchez was the player who played as more of an attacking midfielder. This meant that Thuram had more responsibilities to lead the line.

The 26-year-old was not necessarily playing in his best position.

However, Thuram did use his pace and dribbling ability to good effect on several occasions to cause problems for the Granata backline.

Marcus Thuram Shines In Second Half Of Salernitana Inter Clash

It was in the second half of the match, however, that Thuram really started to look at his best.

It was no coincidence that this happened once Martinez replaced Sanchez on the pitch.

The Frenchman already seems to have a strong understanding with Martinez.

This meant that Thuram was able to get on the ball in different areas, and that he had a reference point to play off of.

And Thuram had his role to play in Martinez’s remarkable four-goal second half. He linked up with Martinez brilliantly to notch yet another assist in an Inter shirt, and also won the penalty from which the Argentine scored his fourth goal of the match.

It was a clear demonstration of how much Thuram can provide for his teammates in attack.
