Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco dreams of becoming a “Bandiera” for the club. He also discusses the Scudetto race.

The 25-year-old is a childhood Nerazzurri fan who used to regularly attend his beloved club’s matches at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

The wingback has now cemented himself as a regular starter and a key component in Simone Inzaghi’s tactical jigsaw.

The Italian international says his dream is to become a club icon or a “Bandiera”, the term used in Calcio.

“A Bandiera? I hope so, it’s my dream,” said Dimarco in his interview with Sport Mediaset via FcInterNews.

“My dream is to play for Inter and I don’t see any obstacles from here on out.

“Having fun, and working hard is our secret. We are doing well, we can do even better.”

On another note, the former Parma and Verona man identified Napoli as the main threat for Inter in the Scudetto race. Nevertheless, he believes AC Milan and Juventus are also in the mix.

“Our main rivals? Definitely Napoli because they won last season. Then there is Milan and Juve. We will all fight for the title until the end.”

Dimarco also discussed last season’s Champions League run and 12 league defeats, while also praising the impact of Marcus Thuram and the other Inter strikers.

“What we did last season was extraordinary. It’s not often that we get to the end of a prestigious tournament like the Champions League.

“I think this term we have to start again from what we did in the last campaign. We know that It’s not easy but let’s say that we’re at a good point.

“We must not fear anyone. These are football matches. These grand occasions are the reason we play football.

“I think that last season we perhaps made the mistake of not taking it game by game but thought too far ahead, to the ones that mattered most.

“This year we’re adopting a different approach. We cannot underestimate anyone.

“I already knew Marcus because I played against him when we were young, but all of our attackers are doing well.”
