Italian football agent Federico Pastorello felt that staying at Inter Milan was the right move for his client Stefan de Vrij.

The 31-year-old has been at the club since making a free transfer from Lazio in the summer of 2018.

The Dutchman has now won a Scudetto title, two Coppa Italia trophies and two Italian Super cups during his time with the Nerazzurri.

However, the defender endured a difficult campaign last season, losing his starting berth to Francesco Acerbi.

But while some expected him to leave the club as a free agent in the summer, the Nerazzurri decided to extend their collaboration with the experienced star.

The Netherlands international’s displays improved this term. He has thus far made 17 appearances across all competitions. However, he’s currently nursing an adductor injury.

For his part, Pastorello insists that his client was smart to accept Inter’s contract renewal offer. The famous agent argues that the move paid dividends for both parties.

“Stefan was smart to accept Inter’s offer,” said the player’s representative in an interview with TMW Magazine via FcInterNews.

“De Vrij chose to accept the renewal precisely because he knew that there would be plenty of space for him.”

Pastorello adds that the Dutchman wasn’t short of suitors, with mega-rich Saudi clubs requesting his services. The same goes for his other client, Acerbi.

“Stefan had offers from the Saudi Pro League. We are talking about a very important offer, especially for the duration, given that there was a four-year contract on the table.

“However, Stefan wanted to stay in Europe because he feels he can still give a lot. We have also had other approaches, some have asked for information, as in the case of Acerbi.”
