Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi says that he “congratulated” his players for their performance to earn a draw against Man City.

The Nerazzurri coach reacted to the 0-0 Champions League opener speaking to Amazon Prime, via FCInterNews.

Inter had the toughest of assignments to begin their Champions League campaign.

The Nerazzurri travelled to England to face Premier League juggernauts Manchester City at the Etihad.

This was a rematch of the 2023 Champions League final. Inter had acquitted themselves well with their performance in that match – but still ended up losing.

This time around, though, the Nerazzurri managed to go toe-to-toe with City and get a result for their troubles.

It was not the win that Inter will have been hoping for.

The Nerazzurri were not able to turn any of the handful of promising counterattacking situations that they had into goals to take three points.

But at the other end, Inter kept City largely very quiet.

At least until the last few minutes of the match, Inter held the English giants at arm’s length.

Inzaghi: “I Congratulated The Guys” After Inter Champions League Draw Vs Man City

Inter coach Inzaghi said after the match that “The guys did well.”

“They worked well together,” he continued.

“We knew the opponent we were up against. But they did very well.”

“We could have been a bit more clinical in some situations,” Inzaghi noted.

“And then in the second half we had to suffer a bit. But even then we had chances with Darmian and Mkhitaryan where we could have done better.”

“But I congratulated the guys,” Inzaghi said.

“Now we have to go forward.”

“We’ve had our Champions League opener three days before the derby,” the Inter coach noted. “But that’s the fixture list.”

Of Inter’s finishing, Inzaghi said “There’s also been a bit of that in the league.”

“In the last thirty metres, you need technique.”

“This is the first time this season that we haven’t scored,” Inzaghi noted. “And that’s one more reason for us to grow.”

“We’ll work even more on finishing,” added the Inter coach.
