Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries admits yesterday’s 4-4 draw with Juventus was an “incredible match” – but not for the Nerazzurri.

The Dutchman gave his verdict on the wild Derby d’Italia thriller to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews.

There was certainly no shortage of entertainment value in yesteday’s Serie A clash between Inter and Juventus.

The goals kept coming right until the end.

There were an eye-watering five goals in the first half alone. And then three more in the second.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri held the lead at different stages of proceedings. But in the end the two teams had to share the points, with the scoreline a remarkable 4-4.

Denzel Dumfries: “4-4 Juventus Thriller An Incredible Match – But Not For Inter”

The team who will be happier with the final scoreline yesterday will almost certainly be Juventus.

The Bianconeri had trailed by two goals in the second half.

Therefore, salvaging a point against direct title rivals in a fixture that is always an emotional and hotly-contested one will feel like a real achievement.

On the other hand, Inter may well have thought that they had the three points in hand.

Dumfries scored the Nerazzurri’s fourth goal, and gave them a two-goal cushion.

For the neutral, Juventus’s frenetic comeback was certainly the ideal scenario. The scoreline was a fitting end to a match that was flawed, unpredictable, but never boring.

But Inter’s goal is not to entertain the neutral fans.

The Nerazzurri are fighting for a second straight Serie A title. And results like yesterday’s are not overly helpful in those efforts.

“I think for the spectators, the people who watched the eight goals, it was certainly an incredible match,” admitted Nerazzurri wingback Dumfries.

“But not for us.”

“We can’t be happy with having conceded four goals at home,” the Dutchman added.

“We wanted to win the match. So we had to do better.”
