Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has identified key areas where his side must improve following a disturbing draw against Juventus.

Speaking to DAZN in the build-up to today’s clash against Empoli, as reported by FCInterNews, he admitted he knows how to increase his team’s Scudetto chances.

Dropping a two-goal lead in a 4-4 stalemate against Juventus on Sunday didn’t go well with Simone Inzaghi.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri boss forced his men to review the match tape yesterday, trying to point out their mistakes.

Although Inter fared impressively in the final third, their inadequate defensive approach was their scourge last time out.

Keen to prevent his side from replicating those mistakes, Inzaghi had a crucial meeting with the team to identify the problems.

He hopes his advice will bear fruit when the reigning Scudetto holders take on Empoli.

With Napoli seven points away after beating AC Milan yesterday, there’s almost no margin for error at Stadio Carlo Castellani.

“We analyzed Sunday’s game,” Inzaghi admitted.

“We know what we did well, and there was a lot, and where we need to improve, especially in our defensive play.

“With a game like that, we wanted a different result because we did many things well, and we know where we have to get better.”

After initially thinking about benching Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, Inzaghi dropped that idea before the game.

He understands the importance of taking three points in Tuscany.

“They’re all important; we know our path. We were on the field 48 hours ago, as was Empoli, so we’ve had limited time to prepare a good game.

“We’ll be facing an opponent that has been on a strong run.”

Inzaghi also discussed his line-up choices.

“Barella as a starter? Let’s just say that right now we have a few issues in that position,” he stated.

“Asllani has a problem that hasn’t been resolved; he’s pushing through and is here with us today.

“Zielinski made a good return against Juventus, then requested a substitution.

“After just two and a half days, I preferred Barella, who can comfortably handle that role.”
