Inter Milan will not receive a sell-on fee if Chelsea sell midfielder Cesare Casadei to Napoli during the January transfer window.
Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, report that the 21-year-old is close to joining the Partenopei.
Inter sold midfielder Casadei to Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
Then a teenager, Casadei had yet to make an appearance for the Inter first team.
However, the young midfielder had shone for the Nerazzurri Under-19 or Primavera side.
Therefore, that convinced Chelsea to spent a significant fee to bring Casadei in. They spent a total of €14.8 million to sign the young midfielder, with the inclusion of all add-ons.
No Sell-On Fee For Inter If Chelsea Sell Cesare Casadei To Napoli
That was certainly a big cash influx for Inter considering that Casadei had yet to make a senior appearance.
However, there was no buyback clause. Nor is there a sell-on fee.
Therefore, if Chelsea are to sell Casadei, Inter will not receive a portion of the fee for the Italy Under-21 international’s sale.
And reportedly, Chelsea are likely to sell Casadei this month. The 21-year-old has not played much of a role in the Blues starting eleven this season under Enzo Maresca.
A number of clubs in Serie A have shown an interest in Casadei’s signature.
But according to Sky, it is Napoli who are on the verge of signing the former Inter midfielder.
