Cesc Fabregas has rejected a chance to replace Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan in favor of a long-term project at Como.
According to a statement Fabregas made at the SxSw Festival in London reported by La Repubblica, Fabregas explained his decision to stay at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Though Inter Milan strongly wanted the 38-year-old to take Inzaghi’s place, they must expand their search for a new manager.
Indeed, Cesc Fabregas has pledged his future to Como after being persuaded by President Mirwan Suwarso.
He took charge of the Lariani last summer after the club returned to Serie A after over 20 years and helped them excel.
Despite Como’s underdog status in tier one, they secured an admirable 10th-place finish.
Much of the credit goes to Fabregas, who did an excellent job in his first-ever season in elite management.
Therefore, suitors have queued in line, with Inter emerging as the leading contender to capture his signature.
However, Fabregas has other plans, meaning someone else will have to replace Simone Inzaghi.
Moreover, Como president Suwarso revealed that numerous teams approached him to ask about Fabregas.
“Several clubs have inquired about him, but our position remains the same,” he claimed. “We want to continue growing and working together.
“And that’s how it will stay. That’s the story.”
Cesc Fabregas Turns Down Inter Milan Out of Loyalty to Como

“I started with this club because I was thinking of a long-term project,” Fabregas stated. “I don’t want to end my career at a club where there’s a plan for one or two years and then everything ends.
“And I strongly believe in Como’s long-term project. I arrived here as a player and I’m very, very happy because I can work here the way I want to.
“We share the same goals and the same ambition. The president allows me to work the way I want, in the way I see things.
“Fortunately, we share the same vision, the same goal, which is to go as far as possible.
“Together, we’ve become a really good team in a small city, in a small club because we’re still a small club—but with big, very big ambitions for the future.”
Then, he compared Como’s project with top clubs’ ambitions.
“There always needs to be a process, which you can follow at Como.
“In top teams, it’s very difficult, because those clubs – and their fans – want to win right away. Of course, I also think about winning.
“But also, or perhaps even more, about how I want to lose. I never give up on my principles.”
Finally, he admits he has big plans for Como.
“I don’t really believe in data. I believe more in instinct. Data doesn’t tell you everything – you see the players’ mistakes or emotional reactions.
“There’s not a single exercise that doesn’t serve our development. Always with a clear vision of what we want to do.
“A clear model, a clear scheme. This is my Como.”
A bit surprised about Fabregas turning down the offer. Maybe it’s for the best. There are a lot of solid experienced football coaches out there (EPL/LaLiga/SerieA/Bundesligia/Ligue1) that will jump at an offer. Things will be fine.
What is Xavi up to these days?
Chivu & viera are not ready,
Cesc himself is a gamble.
Inzaghi really has f***ed us over!
At least conte had a reason, Inzaghi was told he’d be backed and has given some lame excuse about energy, when I reality he’s a money grabbing scumbag.
Good to see he has integrity and works from principles rather than blindlygoing wherever and whenever a more coveted position is available.
Maybe next time we need a new boss
Massive thanks to inzaghi for screwing us to line his pockets!!
Just adds to my dislike of the guy, he’s ruined our club World Cup and summer plans.
I would love to see de zerbi or nuno Espírito Santo.
Chivu is a massive risk.. bit like motta was for juve. That being said it would be the ultimate troll move for us to pick him up and succeed after his juve stint.
Has anybody called klopp just in case? lol
All big teams are strengthening and it won’t like previous seasons so Fabregas should understand the possibility of relegation is very real and the opportunity won’t be available anymore.
Wrird why no one from Inter not mentioning Mancini.
David was right on everything. lol
David, tell us who will be the next coach. haha
Inazghi left because he is hoping to manage Italy National Team for World Cup 2034 in Saudi Arabia
Zidane: Won’t join inter because he wants to be either in the management position business or the manager of the French
Oaktree’s tactics are to hire a rookie manager who won’t demand much so they can make profit.
The mouthpiece marotta never hires non-Italian. He is simply against managers who are not Italians. he won’t seek Klopp or others.
at the end of the day they will force Fabregas to manage inter and will get sacked in January.
Marotta doesn’t care about trophy.
That interview was 12 days ago but what the president said was recently about fabregas not leaving but this has been said many times by presidents and the coaches still leave if they think the clubs plans are ambitious enough. Also if we don’t get Fabregas then there’s De Zerbi of Farioli (who I like as well). Let’s see what happens. I hope this doesn’t end in disappointment
EDIT: Looks like there was another interview today and he actually said this. Oh boy lol… well the other option should be Mancini since he’s the most experienced out of the bunch. De Zerbi and Farioli are good alternatives but Mancini brings experience and the motive to win straight away. I’m frankly tired but optimistic.
Apparently Ausilio will still meet with him tonight. Lets see what happens.
Let’s put faith in a young coach of our own, who has history with the club, knows how it works, and has 1st hand experience with our youth team…. Just hire Chivu, and let’s get on with things….
Unfortunately after Inter finishing the season as they did it won’t be legs get on things but rather things must happen. For a coach with no experience and new ideas it’s not a good thing at all.
Parma are offering Chivu a new contract
The f is goin on now? Now we will sign some mediocre coaches like Chivu or Vieira who cannot bring nothing new to us. If this is the case bring Mourinho or Mancini back
Then Chivu it is
