A crunch meeting between Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi has just ended, with the coach deciding to leave San Siro.
Per Gazzetta dello Sport, the 49-year-old has accepted a lucrative contract proposal from Al-Hilal.
Therefore, Simone Inzaghi will cut his four-year association with the Nerazzurri effective immediately.
Indeed, he will join the Saudi Pro League giants on a two-year deal worth an eye-watering €50 million.
On the other hand, Beppe Marotta and his associates must work swiftly to find a suitable replacement.
Como boss Cesc Fabregas has emerged as a frontrunner to take the job.
Simone Inzaghi Decides to Leave Inter Milan After Crunch Meeting

Inzaghi, who replaced Antonio Conte at the helm in 2021, inspired Inter to six major titles, including a landmark 20th Scudetto.
Furthermore, he steered the club to two Champions League finals in three years, albeit he lost both.
Paris Saint-Germain’s thumping 5-0 win in the Munich showpiece last weekend was the final straw.
As a result, the ex-Lazio manager will continue his career in the desert.
His imminent departure means Inter must hire a suitable replacement, and Fabregas is the leading candidate.
However, other options, such as Roberto De Zerbi, remain on the table.
Well good riddance, worst coach in inter history with boring tactics. Everyone who disagree can F*** yourself.
maurinho tactis is boring
herera tactics was boring
by your logic those two is worst inter coach in history
wich in fact they arent
so go fu** yourself
yeah right dude.. many people in this web is inzaghi fanboy with no brain lol
im tifosi inter since 1998 what of it?
Despite losing two CL finals he will always be remembered as the one fo the best Inter coaches in Inter’s history. His decision in my opinion was already made the moment the offer arrived. Thanks for great matches over the years both good and bad.
Marotta Oaktree and most of fans here either delusional or don’t care. Why would you get rid of Inzaghi when you have another competition in less than two weeks. I am 100% sure Marotta told Inzaghi “hey CL loser boy, we will not be spending one Euro on any new players next season and you have to work even harder and bring us more profit, if not, then go to Saudi Arabia” Inzaghi whom I cannot blame had no choice and sadly killed his career.
no,inzaghi himself who wants o leave
Exactly, youre the only one who remembered that even Inzaghi was before Inter an Cup and Mid Table coach, while now he is leaving winning all with Inter. Trust the process. In Marotta i trust and Oaktree is doing already now better management then Suning.
time for another try of gasperini.
Hope Beppe gets Chivu over Fabregas. We need someone who is Intersita, who knows our fans and passionate to win for our colors.
You’re a mad man. I understand wanting Chivu but he doesn’t have a full serie A season under his belt and we don’t even know his style of play but you wouldn’t mind based on your comments on here. You don’t care how we play or win. Once we finish second or reach the final of a tournament that would be enough for you. You’d be a perfect Arsenal supporter
conte ain’t interisti, but brought us trophy and in the final. being interisti isn’t what the team looking for
do we ever had an ex-inter players (not those 1-2 seasons type) who managed Inter successfully for an extended period of time?
I don’t think so. which is why I am as neutral to chivu as to fabregas.
Thank You Inzaghi, for your time at the club, and the 6 trophies you brought us… Now we play for midtable.
I agree with Inter Fan, Inzaghi probably knew they are not going to spend much money on quality players. Probably very similar to the past 3 summers, bunch of older free transfers that are at the end of their fitness and few mediocre younger players that can’t compete on high competitive games like CL last 8 games. We can blame Inzaghi all we won’t, but you can’t win CL final with midfield of 30+ players. other than Bastoni and Barella, the CL final was selection of old past the prime players, or less quality cheap replacements, like the polish winger from Roma on a loan, we had no depth on the bench when the older starters were to tired to perform 90+ mins every 3 days, which caused major injuries as we witnessed to key players which never fully recovered, DiMarco, Pavard, Dumfries, Lautaro, the Turkish midfilder, etc.
Blame should not be on the coach, but the investors for not getting quality players if they want silverware. Grazie Inzaghi
it’s really a bittersweet moment. 4 great years no doubt ended with a diabacal. If he left with the champions league no one would be saying a bad thing but here we are. All the best to him. I think we’re all a bit worried about the unknown. none of the managers linked have amazing pedigree, but have to start from somewhere as anyone with pedigree would want to win straightaway and not work with younger players and wouldn’t join us anyway as they’d be at a club.
Thank you Inzaghi!!
Can’t wait to see the Inzaghi haters start to blame next coach. LOL.
LOL
I promise I’m not going to blame any coach who doesn’t use a 3 man defense and I would be open for criticism if we do get Fabregas or Mancini and did worse than any of our seasons.
Just show some respect to the highest win rate in all games ever coach for Inter.
The is something very wrong with your brain
Xavi is real weapon, f**k off with 3-5-2 butcher formation. Attack is the best defense!
They are finding hair in the soup already… In the suggested recipes… they find hair, even there!
If he wants to go to kebab league let him. You don’t go to a ucl final and leave your time for a team that’s not even in Europe unless you only care about money.
Our season was a major disappointment and we choked on 3 competitions on the last day, no winning mentality. As old as our squad is, it’s still better than bologna, bilan and Napoli who all won a trophy.
3-5-2 was outdated and teams had figured us out. Inzaghi’s stubbornness in failing to switch formations and make weird subs (ucl final) was his downfall.
Still he got us some trophies and now he wants to cash in, but to me, to leave a ucl finalist top team for kebab league is a major downgrade and lack of ambition.
IMO the reason why he decided to leave was Oaktree’s mercato strategy. Buy cheap unproven players and give them to Inzaghi to develop them. As I said a few days ago, if I were him I would never accept to work on those conditions at a club that at the end of the season demands trophies. You can’t go to the UCL final twice and only buy cheapies; you can’t improve the team like that. And if the team does not keep improving, there is no point in staying bc the project is over.
100% agree.
Its the strategy every club with American ownership do. I think they just let the club run just for money not trophies. And thats kinds bad.
i hope this not made before the game n be the reason hes not extra prepare the team for final game.
gud luck for you n us also. it will be new processs all over again. Mr president plis do your magic once again
Why do I get the feeling the players knew about it and was one of the reasons of their performance going into the final, I don’t I could be wrong.
It wouldn’t surprise me
Thank You Inzaghi, for your time at the club, and the 6 trophies you brought us…
Unfortunately, after the Champions league final, I felt a parting of ways was inevitable, but you will be remembered fondly by me and many others….
It is now imperative that we bring in a coach who wants to play progressive football, and is happy to work with younger players…. I’d be happy to hire the first person who said that he would rather get use of the likes of the Esposito brothers and Carboni, rather than waste money on the likes of Hoijlund and Bonny…. Our money should be spent on Midfielders and wingers with pace and creativity, and Centre backs like Solet and Leoni…
Gonna be an Interesting few weeks ahead… FORZA INTER, Always!!
Couldn’t have said it any better. Always great to see there are still level-headed fans out there.
Bruno where have you been? It’s people like you that have defended garbage football for years. I would love to see what you say when the new coach is hired. Remember you said we don’t play with wingers so I wouldn’t mind seeing what you think now hahaha
I’ve been grieving and traveling but I was not hiding at all. I’m here now. I’ve already responded to some of your comments regarding Inzaghi on other posts, go check them out. You’ll be surprised to see that I agree with you on bringing Fabregas on. I’m not married to the idea of playing 3-5-2 or to Inzaghi. I’m just not in favor of bashing the system and coach that made us relevant in Europe again and competitive in Serie A. Getting embarrassed in the final doesn’t erase the journey we were on with Inzaghi; a journey that saw us go toe to toe against City in the 2023 final and saw us knocking Bayern and Barcelona while playing “garbage” football.
I wasn’t expecting this kind of response, I thought I would be insulted. What’s up with you? Are you ok? If you’re grieving our loss, I already did that and I’m over it because I kind of expected it but not 5-0 expected it. If you’re grieving something else, I’m sorry to hear bro (hope this isn’t the case). I haven’t seen any of your responses. I don’t get any notifications unless I leave the windows open which is ridiculous.
For some reason, I cannot reply to your comment, so I’ll reply here. I’ve been grieving the loss LOL. I though the final was going to be a similar to the Barcelona tie; Barcelona dictating the tempo and Inter holding on and taking the few chances that could’ve come our way. Boy was I wrong. Luis Enrique read Inzaghi to perfection and there were no adjustments made to counter that. I think the collective mental collapse was even worse than the lack of tactics by Inzaghi on this match though. Anyways, it’s clear that the cycle was over after that embarrassing display. If we ae going to change course, let’s do it with someone that plays attacking/imposing football, and I agree that Fabregas is the one for the job.
Ohh good to know you’re ok haha… Now I’m going to say Finally you see the light hahaha. But in all honesty we needed a new direction for a while now and I actually said this defeat was both heartbreaking and comforting because that was the only way we would have gotten change. And yes we need an attacking coach who will finally utilize wingers and creative players who are able to take their man on 1on1. We may have our differences in the upcoming season but I look forward to it. Hope there are less insults tho hahaha
You’re right. I’m sorry for calling you micro you know what in the past. That was really immature from my part. We should keep it civil among fans. In the end, we all want Inter to succeed. I might be more pragmatic and don’t mind that we don’t play flashy/fancy football as long as we get results, but that shouldn’t have caused me to be a dick towards you for pointing out deficiencies about Inzaghi.
As per Davide, I won’t hold back any punches against that dude.
And sorry for saying you should get on your knees for Inzaghi after the Barcelona game. That was even worse than the micro you know what insult. I’ve been doing a lot of personal growth recently; not only on this forum of course. I’m glad we both agree and are excited about the possibility of bringing Fabregas on.
Man I appreciate the apology. I’m happy we can get along and like you said we all want good and success for Inter but the way it’s achieved may be varied. As for Davide, we haven’t even appointed a coach and he’s already bashing management. lmao I don’t know what the issue is.
Totally agree!!
Such a bad move from Inzaghi, to even sit down and discuss contracts with another club before the most important game (champions league final) tells you a lot. this man is disgrace to our beloved club, he chose easy money infront of glory with INTER, do not feel bad for him…. he had 4 years with such a strong squad and he only won 1 scudetto and 1 copa, thats it. leave this man be…….FORZA INTER, ALWAYS INTER.
Inzaghi had another year on his contract, so are they going to buy him from us?
No. In Italy the coach can walk away for free. The only case where money is involved is when the club fires the coach. In that case the club keeps paying the coach till he starts work at another club or the contract expires
Banter era incoming? What a shame, the project is over, but even if Inzaghi stayed we would have needed to get rid of almost half the team due to their lack of quality and championship mentality; however, I’m pretty sure that the management will not invest for that to happen
As for Inzaghi, going to Saudi Arabia puts the nail on the coffin on what was once a promising career, maybe if he were 60-65, but not a good idea at 49 even if they offer what they offered, good riddance
€rap.. I feel we are gonna head into another banter era now.. feel bad for all mud slinging I have done on the Bilan fans in the last 3 years. I firmly believe there is NO OTHER coach in Italy right now who could have done better with our present squad. I think the closest we could come to getting someone reliable from Italy would be Italiano or Stramachioni. else, we need to get mou or klopp.
What about Mancini? I’d prefer Cesc but if we got Mancini I wouldn’t mind and would be ecstatic either way. Also, maybe there’s an outside chance we sign Tite (former Brazil coach) who knows lol
I like Mancini, but he needs good players, that being said his tactics need a lil fine tuning.. he’s still a lil old fashioned and might struggle in Europe.
inter went from CL final to relegation zone in 2026 that;’s will be the big news next year and of course low IQ fans like you (I understand you cannot do anything to change the management) will be attacking me. Meanwhile I will laugh at your stupidity. Keep drinking the kool Aid.
Are u ok friend? Inzaghi stays you have a problem.. he leaves you have a problem.. what do you want? why are u behaving like my ex. if you hate inter so much, why don’t you go support bilan or merdentus or Napoli instead.
Looks like Davide has two faces. LOL
Davide don’t act like Bruno. Wait to see who we hire and the plans ahead.
Don’t act like Bruno? What the fuck do you mean? I see asinine comments, and I reply. Simple as that. I don’t go out of my way to attack anybody.
You’ve been saying that Inzaghi is a mid-table coach, that 3-5-2 doesn’t work, that Inter don’t play football, etc. And I simply reminded you that Inzaghi took us to 2 CL finals (yes, what happened on Saturday was a historic embarrassment but that doesn’t erase the fact that we made it to another CL final). Inzaghi also won the Scudetto. Perhaps we should’ve won in 2022 and 2025, but we lost that by 1 point margin. Can you please give me an example of another “mid-table” coach that finishes top 4 for 4 years straight and reaches 2 CL finals? The fact that the team made it to top 4 (2 times runner up and 1 Scudetto) nullifies that “argument” that you’ve been making about Inzaghi.
As per Davide… We all know that he’s a reactionary troll and has some of the most exaggerated takes we’ve seen on this site. For example: Napoli will beat Bologna by 5 goals, Barcelona will beat us 7-0, and the list goes on. We’ve seen this on a weekly basis this whole season. Calling him an idiot for making these “predictions” is the only thing one can do.
They should bring Conte back . That would be the best choice.
no thank you. Cunte is a farce. despite playing 20 matches lesser than us this year with a younger squad, won by one point! (i.e) he drew ONE more match than us. fathom how bad he is….
100% agree….Conte can have PSG or Barca level squad and still fail to deliver unless he purposely gets eliminated in every competition in my opinion I don’t think he will last the entire season and I’m glad Napoli kept him. Inter need fresh ideas and keep the core quality players that are already established and do very well in the team. Hakan, Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, Thuram, Frattessi, Dimarco, Zielinski, Pavard and Zalewski. Others must gradually be phased out the club. The upside is any other coach will at least try to use players to their advantage like Dimarco in attack, Frattesi in goal scoring opportunities and not using someone like Mikhi like a 20 year old but still a good consistent player. I think Fabregas would be perfect because I think he might actually favour creativity and young players over other coaches like Mancini who will basically bring nothing more than Inzaghi
Its fans like you that love misery and only think about results rather than overall satisfaction in terms of play and future of the club. Why on earth would you even say such nonsense??
without results we can not talk about the “future of the club”. And a club like Inter must always aim at the best results possible and, above all, trophies.. And, in addition to other things, that is impossible without significant investments into proven, high-quality players.
Then I say, why not Leonardo? He is without a club. Imagine what he could have done if he hadn’t quit after six months.
thank you inzaghi for what you have done for this club.
He is a very honest, hard working, enthusiastic coach. He had very good relationship with players and he was very succesful until saturday night. We will remember him with his beautiful smile. He is a man of honor and character. But the result shocked all the club and we all know it is not your fault. Thank you for everything. You are a great man and wish you luck in your career.
2025- was trophyless
2026- will be mid table Save these words and be sure to twist my words and attack me. I will pay you 100 Euro if inter wins anything this new season.
They will hire a mid table manager.
Congratulation Napoli for another Scudetto 2025-2026 and Congrat Barca or PSG for another CL 2025-2026 Save these words!
Bye bye inter!
Retarded much you fucking clown.
I agree with you that Conte just won the 2025-26 Scudetto.
Finally!!!!! It’s time to get Cesc Fabregas and start a new chapter with Inter. We need to rejuvenate this team and our playing style. I will finally get to see creativity and wingers at Inter once again, after 6 YEARS!!!! I miss my team. This feels sooooo good
Totally agree
I know that you and I have a lot of differing opinions, especially with Inzaghi. But I agree with you on this one. I would love to see Fabregas as Inter’s coach. Now, I don’t understand what you mean by seeing creativity on the wings once again after 6 years. 6 years ago, we had Spalletti as our coach. He did what he could with the limited squad we had and there was certainly limited creativity on the wings.
I will always appreciate you Inzaghi. You did good
Special One perhaps?!?!
good choice at the moment
I really hope so. He still has it. Once a great coach, always a great coach.
But it is near zero probable
Bye Inzaghi, thank you for your time at inter, and hope that you can further enhance your man management (knowing when make subs for immediate impact, and learn to trust younger players).
After the shameful final, it was time for him to leave. He had nothing more to add to Inter. But I don’t like the name Fabregas, he’s just an intern. He doesn’t have the necessary experience that we need. It would be a very risky bet. They talked so much about T. Motta, who was given a chance at Juventus, and it was a huge failure. Apparently, this board doesn’t even want to spend money on coaches. Everything is always at zero cost.
I feel Marotta has something up his sleeve. He will definitely bring someone suitable for the job. Trust Don Beppe
another delusional fan. Marotta doesn’t care about winning any trophy. He got the job as a mouthpiece for the management in order to deceive fans and of course keeps his job. I am not blaming him but I wouldn’t say he will succeed. inter will be lucky next season if they avoid relegation.
guy..calm down..don’t be too pessimistic..inter will do well next season and won’t go trophiles..Mark my word
Buddy, it doesn’t get worse than the banter era that we went through between 2012-2019. At not point were we even close to being relegated then, what makes you think we’ll be relegated if Fabregas comes in?
instead of keeping Inzaghi until the end of the cup world cup, Marotta the mouthpiece and his cronies decided to hire a mid table relegation zone manager LOL I wanted inter to win the CL but at the same time I am an inter, bayern, arsenal, PSG fans so it’s all good. I wish inter would have won. Sadly inter will be absent from the CL until an Arab owner buys the club.
Davide you are an Inter fan? Well who would have thought that? Just reading some of your comments, seems you actually have a hate boner for Inter
you are very wrong, inzaghi did not have much experience yet we hired him and performed so well. so there is nothing wrong in trying cesc fabregas.
