Inter Milan will reportedly make a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka if Hakan Calhanoglu leaves this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan are still bracing for the possibility that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could leave this summer.
It now looks far likelier that the Turk will stay than go. Galatasaray’s first offer for him was far from Inter’s asking price, meaning that negotiations between the clubs never took off.
But Inter know that it’s never wise to say never in the transfer market. Therefore, they have contingency plans in case Galatasaray return with a significantly improved offer.
Inter To Move For Granit Xhaka If Hakan Calhanoglu Leaves

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka would come into frame if Calhanoglu leaves.
The 32-year-old former Arsenal midfielder has plenty of experience. And a relatively similar profile to that of Calhanoglu.
Moreover, Xhaka would be extremely affordable. Leverkusen would reportedly let the Swiss international go for a fee of around €12 million.
Therefore, Inter are preparing to move forward with Xhaka as a replacement for Calhanoglu.
