Midfielder Kristjan Asllani has come to the end of the road at Inter Milan, without ever really living up to expectations.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Midfielder Kristjan Asllani will join Torino on loan with an option to buy this summer.
The Albanian is leaving Inter Milan after three years at the club.
Asllani came to Inter from Empoli in the summer of 2022. As Tuttosport note, he had been on the Nerazzurri’s radar long before then.
Inter had spotted Asllani when he was part of Empoli’s youth team system.
Therefore, the Albanian had been a priority target for Inter even when he was still a teenager. They signed him in the hopes that he would be the long-term successor to Marcelo Brozovic.
End Of An Underwhelming Road For Kristjan Asllani At Inter Milan

However, in Asllani’s first season at Inter, it was instead Hakan Calhanoglu who took the reins when Brozovic suffered a couple lengthy injuries.
Therefore, Calhanoglu didn’t just become the backup to Brozovic – he replaced the Croat.
Accordingly, Asllani instead became the understudy to Calhanoglu in holding midfield for Inter.
However, Tuttosport note, the 23-year-old’s performances have just never quite lived up to expectations.
It’s true that Asllani has had a few excellent performances and moments in an Inter shirt. He has also scored four goals for the club.
However, the feeling is that Asllani has not really grown and improved as Inter had hoped.
Therefore, the Albanian has headed for the exit door after three years.
4 years! Or was it 3? he was more like… meh! Perisic needed even more years, if I remember correctly. Of course, 20/21, they played in an Inter being in far better shape. Suddenly, Candreva had some decent matches for us also. D’Ambrosio…
It should be expected that players gel with our squad more quickly, compared to that of 15/16 or thereabout…
the real questions here is who, among the Inter management staff, had any expectations regarding this guy? Those who had expectations made a grave mistake and demonstrated a great deal of unawareness and cluelessness when it comes to transfer policies
He showed some promise, for example the technic that he hits the ball is amazing but he was always one level below Inter standard. He usually was the one who disturbed the flow of the play.
Players like Zielnski, Fratessi and even Taremi despite their underwhelming form, integrated so that I couldn’t see any hiccup in the system with them introduced to the pitch (if done carefully of course, you can’t use all the subs together and hope the team performs well).
However, Asllani had many chances, much more than the above mentioned players and never showed that awareness and quality.
He may have a chance with Tornio, the move is the best for all the parties.
Amazing technique , yet somehow never managed to hit the intended target.
I don’t take asllani’s side, but it took years for brozovic to click. The real issue is that he can’t fit in regista role which is vital point for inter. If he was vice mhiki, I believed he’d still be here since mhiki doesn’t do anything extraordinary for defending. the reason we moved on from brozo was hakan does well than him so if you put someone younger who has no experience to be anchor of the team, that’s what you’ll get. I blame the management for this
