Cristian Chivu has already begun transforming Inter Milan from a morally-wrecked team into a confident and cohesive unit.
According to Corriere della Sera via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old has mentally recovered the squad after a disappointing season.
Indeed, last season was heartbreaking for the Nerazzurri.
Despite fighting for a treble in mid-April, they had to settle for the only trophyless season under Simone Inzaghi.
Furthermore, the highly rated coach left San Siro only days after Inter’s fiasco in the Champions League football.
Cristian Chivu Revives Inter Milan

Despite lacking experience in top-flight management, Cristian Chivu has proved capable of handling the pressure.
Moreover, the Romanian coach affirmed his credentials in his first Serie A match as Inter coach.
Interestingly, Petar Sucic was the only new addition in the starting line-up that humbled Torino 5-0 on Monday.
Therefore, Chivu’s impact was immediately evident, as the Nerazzurri played with energy and a renewed sense of purpose.
It’s still too early to talk about a renaissance, but Inter seem to be on the right path under Chivu.
They were strong at the start of last season also. They crumbled at the end because they are too old and cannot sustain a full season, the same thing will happen this season.
they’re not too old this season
Look at the results from the start of last season again and then write again. I dunno if you remember how rusty they were in the first 2 months. Courtesy of the international games.
This “too old” narrative is getting old. The team has 10 spots for outfield players. Only two players out of those ten are considered old (Mkhitaryan and Acerbi). The rest are below thirty with the exception of Hakan who recently turned 31. That means that 8 out of the 10 outfield players are supposed to be in their prime and only 2 are veterans. Guess who was able to finish all 90 minutes of every game they played? Oh, that’s right, the two veterans. Guess who wasn’t able to play the full 90 minutes? Dimarco, Hakan, Bastoni, Thuram, Pavard, Lautaro.
The team did look tired as a whole, but if we look at the players individually, neither Acerbi or Mkhitaryan looked anywhere near as tired as the names I just mentioned. How can you guys claim that the team got tired due to its average age when the older players were not the ones dragging their feet through matches?
If what you’re saying is true, Acerbi and Mkhitaryan wouldn’t have a spot in the starting line-up. But guess what, they’re still the better option in those positions. Now, that does not mean that we can simply keep going with veterans like Acerbi and Mkhitaryan, but they can certainly help the team even as starters.
The 5-0 in the CL final broke some brains in here it seems. The “too old” narrative took over when it was clear that the team lacked conditioning training.
Exactly. Acerbi and Mkhitaryan play because they are the best in their respective positions. The belief that somehow these guys are the bain of Inter is complete revisionist idea.
Amen brother!!!
yeah, true
this too old narrative only brought up when we lost. Even until semi-final miracles against Barcelona these kind of narratives stay low under the radar.
