This will be the second season in which the first phase of the competition is a 36-team mini-league, in which each team faces eight other teams.
This as opposed to the group stage consisting of eight groups of four teams.
The new format has meant that each team plays at least eight matches, rather than six.
Furthermore, it entails each team facing eight different opponents, rather than three home and away.

The Nerazzurri faced a shock 5-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain. That saw what had been an impressive knockout stage run come to a screeching halt.

This season, Inter entered the draw for the league phase of the Champions League in pot one.
And Inter have learned their opponents for the league phase, where they will hope to progress directly to the round of sixteen and avoid a playoff round, as they did last season.
The Nerazzurri will face the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Slavia Prague, and Kairat Almaty at home.
Away, meanwhile, the Nerazzurri will take on the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Ajax, and Union Saint-Gilloise,

Should be easy 9 points vs Kairat, Union and Slavia. Ajax isn’t the same one as couple of years ago when they were landmine for any club, so another 3 points, probably little harder than beforementioned 3. Atletico hasn’t started well this season, their newcomers haven’t clicked yet so a big chance for us. Dortmund last 2 seasons have solid showing in CL, finals and quarter-finals, so i would say they’ll be our 3rd most difficult opponent in group stage after English clubs. Last time we had a little luck vs Arsenal, hopefully this time we also come on top. As for Liverpool, probably after PSG biggest favorites to win, but we are there amongst 5 best as well, so it will all depend who have better evening.

Can someone explain how inter were in pot 1 yet they will be facing hard clubs yet the other clubs who were in pot 1 like psg and those who were in the rest of pots have an easy draw? How is that even possible?

Don’t get why people are saying it’s a hard draw. Atletico have been horrid and liverpools defense has been shaky Only fear is Arsenal but even then they aren’t great either and we play them at home. Rest should be 3 points
4 teams are weak and should be beaten easily. Liverpool and Arsenal (stronger than last season) are the hard ones. AM and Dortmund are weaker than us on paper and we must get at least 4 points against them.
