Newcastle United are pushing to sign Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi before deadline day.
This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market Gianluca Di Marzio. He reports on his homepage that the Magpies want Frattesi on loan with a conditional purchase obligation.
Midfielder Davide Frattesi has been an Inter player since the summer of 2023.
The Nerazzurri signed the Italian international from Sassuolo.
Frattesi has certainly had his ups and downs during his two seasons at Inter.
The 25-year-old has had a knack for scoring important goals. He scored crucial late winners against Hellas Verona and Udinese when Inter won the title in his first season at the club.
Then, last season, Frattesi popped up with the extra time winner against Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals.
However, Frattesi never managed to nail down a starting place under Simone Inzaghi. Therefore, it was no secret that the Italian wanted to leave the club.
Newcastle Pushing For Inter Midfielder Davide Frattesi

Had Inzaghi stayed on as Inter coach, then it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Frattesi would’ve left.
However, Inzaghi left for the riches of Al-Hilal.
And therefore, it appears that Frattesi has a new lease on life at Inter under coach Cristian Chivu.
Accordingly, Inter reportedly want to keep hold of Frattesi. So much so that they are even working to extend the midfielder’s contract.
That does not mean, however, that there is not transfer interest in the 25-year-old.
Newcastle United have identified Frattesi as a target to bolster their midfield.
And according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Premier League club have made an approach to Inter in the last few days of the transfer window.
The Sky transfer expert reports that the Magpies have expressed an interest in signing Frattesi on loan, with a purchase option that becomes an obligation under certain conditions.
However, Di Marzio anticipates, these conditions would not necessarily be easy to meet.
Therefore, Inter have rebuffed the idea of a transfer on these terms. For their part, they value Frattesi at €25 million, Di Marzio reports.
On one hand Frattesi scores goals, and with proper tactics he can score 15-20. On the other hand, apart from goals he offers next to nothing, and in many cases having him on the pitch is like playing with 10 players. Either Chivu uses him as an AM (3-4-1-2) or he should be sold.
On one side had a frequent fitness problems, really underperformed in defensive side of central midfielder, but on the other side Inzaghi didn’t give him much chance, played him outside of his position, when he played AM he was really good. So every offer beneath 45 mil should be automatically rejected, but those upward should be considered if we can find replacement in such short time.
indeed if offer of 45-50 mlns comes, we should sell him and take Lookman, so Chivu can play how he wants.
25 mil for Fratessi? hahahahah
