Marcus Thuram says that Inter Milan “can’t beat ourselves up” after their 1-2 Serie A loss against Udinese this evening.
The Frenchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri suffered their first defeat of the season.
Inter Milan’s early season momentum came to a grinding halt at the San Siro this evening.
The Nerazzurri may have thought that they were on their way to another victory after Denzel Dumfries put them ahead against Udinese in the first half.
However, the Friulani coped much better with going behind than Torino had last weekend.
Kosta Runjaic’s team managed to score twice. They used their pace and physicality to win the ball back, get forward quickly, and create chances.
Udinese managed to score twice to go in 2-1 up at halftime.
Then in the second half, Udinese defended virtually flawlessly. Inter had plenty of possession, but created few telling opportunities.
Therefore, the match ended in Inter’s first defeat of the campaign, just one match into it.
Thuram: “Inter Can’t Beat Ourselves Up” After 1-2 Serie A Loss Vs Udinese

After the match, Inter striker Marcus Thuram commented that “we were playing against a very aggressive team.”
“We pushed forward in the second half,” he continued. “But we were a bit unfortunate.”
Thuram insisted that “we can’t beat ourselves up over it.”
“We talked in the dressing room,” said the Frenchman. “We knew that it would be tough, there are tough matches during the season.”
Thuram added that “we have to start matches the way that we did in the second half today.”
“By playing like that, we can turn around unfavourable situations,” he said.
Shoulda Woulda Coulda.
We lost. These are the players we can afford.
Get over it.
Our squad is a lot stronger than most in SerieA so I expect top 4 at worst over a long season.
New coach, new players takes time to gel. Napoli was a few seconds away from not winning also so…….that’s football. If the result was predetermined that Inter won 100% of the time it wouldn’t be fun at all.
if we switch to 3 up front, I’d be more than happy with him playing wide, but he’s just not clinical enough to be our number 9! He’ll score in fits and starts, but he’s never gonna hit 20 league goals… last season he was on 13 at Christmas, and finished the season with 14…. those aren’t title winning numbers….
@Inglese Ultra
You had said something on the other post about how he’s “just way too casual to be our number 9”, this had been my thought since he first emerged as a target of ours. It just never made sense to me. A seriously competitive Inter would require a goal getter with more hunger and bounce in their step than Thuram. He’s always come off to me as a “chill dude”. Bony and Espo seem to fit the former profile more. Maybe it’s time they’re given the opportunity to start. The old guard just seem to not have “it” anymore.
I just don’t know about Thuram anymore… I think I’d rather see Pio or Bonny starting up front…. He is just too inconsistent, and unnecessarily over complicates things all the time! Clean through on goal, ball moving nicely towards him, and rather than put his foot through it, he tries a clever cut back, and gets dispossessed… Free header from 5 yards out, and he puts it straight at the keeper… he’s just not got that killer instinct needed to play as our number 9!
can’t blame him. inter love to force things out of their natural habits on their players. there were articles right before he joined inter, only inter see him as striker. I see what you mean, I think it’s just his habit as natural winger that he always wants to beat his opponents before striking the ball
See reply above…. STUPID FUCKING COMMENTS SECTION!!!
inter will lose again versus juventus in away match and this is very bad start. Chivu need to arrange formation and squad with winning mentality. If lose vs Juventus, in the end Inter will only struggle to make in UCL or UEFA League. Forget scudetto.
with this team and with this coach, scudetto is out of question, I guess that’s clear to anyone. Qualifying for the Europa League is something we can achieve, everything else would be an unexpected feat. We seem to be getting back to the Trohir era, horrible.
