Inter Milan left €85 million worth of summer signings on the bench in their starting XI in last night’s defeat to Juventus.
The Nerazzurri conceded twice in the last ten minutes as the Bianconeri snatched all three points.
As noted by the Gazzetta dello Sport, via FcInterNews, Akanji was the only summer signing to start the game.
The deadline-day signing was trusted on the right-hand side of the defence.
However, the former Manchester City man was largely unimpressive.
Petar Sucic and Ange-Yoan Bonny came off the bench for Inter.
Chivu brought on Bonny in the 64th minute to replace a tired Lautaro Martinez.
He also introduced Sucic with just ten minutes left but the midfielder failed to settle into the game.
Inter Milan Leave Diouf and Luis Henrique On Bench In Juventus Defeat

Not all of the Nerazzurri’s summer signings came off the bench.
Inter left French midfielder Andy Diouf on the bench as an unused substitute, despite signing him from Lens for €20 million in the summer.
The Nerazzurri also kept winger Luis Henrique on the bench, even though they paid €23 million to Marseille for him.
Head coach Cristian Chivu relied on experience but Inter fans will now wonder what might have happened if the Romanian trusted his new boys instead.
Try to use more young players, give them trust. Let them play with more energy, not old guys, that already slow
having young players is one thing but having top quality young players is a completely another thing. Just being young does not make these guys good players. We have bought some young players of a mediocre quality, perhaps overpaid some of them and fielding them more often will not solve anything
Inter next season Europe league.
Ricci 23 mil
Leoni 35 mil
We spent 90 on bums.
85m of absolute crap!!!
Wasted so much money of useless guys who will leave for far less in 12-18 months
Meanwhile, zalewski is running the show for Atalanta
Absolute disgrace! Marotta OUT!!!!!
Considering Inter have players like Acerbi, Darmian and Mikhi playing who are mediocre at best then questions will be asked why those players were signed. Chivu is losing the plot 100% the guy seem clueless. Like I’ve seen Susic play for only a few matches and I can’t see him actually being used in the defensive aspect when the team need to hold into a win IN A DERBY AWAY FROM HOME. For F*** sake add some more defenders. Susic-Zielinski-Mikhi(yellow 90 minutes) means the midle of the pitch is open for anyone to try to score. The more time goes on Chivu decisions becomes even worse
I think the problem is that he has no good players to field when he needs to make substitutions, if Diouf, for example was any good, he would have fielded him…he does not have good starters either.Inzaghi made them perform much better than ther really are. It was a catastrophic fault of the management not to strengthen midfield and defence with top players in four positions per each of the sections of the field in question. Chosing Chivu as a coach also came as a shock to many and the only reason was that he was the cheapest option and the one who will not oppose any decesion made by the management/ownership. It is exactly this ownership and management who are now destroying this club out of their cheapness.
How do u guys decide diouf is useless the guy only got 10 minutes let’s wait and see how he settle u all are way more negative we only week 3
precisely because he played only 10 minutes! Akanji arrived 10 days ago and was fielded yesterday, didn’t need to settle. He was paid 20+ million,he should be available immediatelly, but it’s clear he’s not and a big question mark is whetere he will ever be
whetever Chivu does can hardly bring any positives..In addition to him being an inexperienced and technically, unproven coach, he’s been left with a squad that has been tormented both physically and mentally. Newcomers are simply not at a level required to play any significant role in Serie a, let alone in UCL. His real guilt is in that he’s not set any conditions to the management regarding both incoming and outgoing market. But he’s been chosen exactly for not setting any conditions and for being obedient to the management and ownership. The outcome of all this will be mediocrity, with which many fans on this forum will be perfectly ok
Mate this is exactly the comment I was waiting to see. This is exactly why a young unproven coach (albeit a club legend) was chosen instead of a more established one: in this moment of his career he can’t afford to act like Conte. We all saw how this (otherwise excellent) team crumbled at the end of last season. Now they are 1 year older and no important signing was made. I don’t think Chivu is to blame if he does not get good results.
Come on man, you and I could be 1st team starters at Lens and Marseille. Only reason Chivu is not using Diouf and Henriqe is probably because they are totally useless.
“Half of our starting 11 are past their best” – exactly. Even we (supporters) can see that.
“Chivu can either try to bring something new to the team” – Yes, thats what we were hoping for, yet we don’t see anything new.
Now imagine how things are bad when Chivu is forced to keep playing Mkhi and Accerbi every game. Also, I agree Thuram’s attitude is disgusting, but I blame only coach for that. It is his job to change him, not yours or mine.
lol this guy thinks he could start for Marseille or Lille…yet you’re here in the comments complaining like a child. Embarrassing take.
Give the players some time to settle in, it’s unbelievable how (wrongly) opinionated, yet confident, people can be.
Everything you wrote only reflects your own stupidity and complete lack of fotball knowledge.
Both Diouf and Henrique would be benchwarmers at Cremonesse. Inter is curently a team without a proper ownership, management and coach. I don’t understand why can’t we introduce some of our academy players (if we don’t have a money for proper players) instead of wasting 20-25mil on useless players.
It looks like Inter is deliberately being destroyed from within.
I only feel sorry for the deluded fans who still believe this team can achieve something.
1st team starters at Marseille and Lens, to bench warmers at Cremonese?? Don’t be absurd!! They may not be the signings we were all hoping for, but nevertheless, Chivu needs to start using them! The only thing we know for certain is that half of our starting 11 are past their best, and others (Thuram) don’t give a shit… Chivu can either try to bring something new to the team, or use the same 11 from last season, and he’ll be gone before Christmas…. Can’t do any worse than we already are, so give them a go!!

As i’ve said before Bonny is 0 improvement over Sebastiano Esposito, useless spending of 25 mil. Luis wrong signing for us unless he starts to play in his position of winger, as wingback is absolute failure. Diouf panic buy, maybe we get something out from him. Sucic the only signing that was positive, can definitely contend for starting place.
Scouting staff has maybe 1 quality player or potenial on every 10 failed transfers. Send Ausilio to Saudi, even buy him a ticket to go. Marotta to find replacement for himself and retire slowly. Hell, we need new players on every fucking position.
Yes, Sucuc is the only good player we signed. Rest of the mercato was a failure.
Marotta and Ausilio are done as well I agree. Both of them failed to recognize what this team need and now we strugle from the start of the season.
We could’ve kept Buchanan and given him a proper starting season and saved up on Henrique transfer money.
