Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu returned to their best in Inter Milan’s 2-1 home win over Sassuolo on Monday evening.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, they were among the best on the pitch.
It’s no wonder that Federico Dimarco received praise for his performance.
Indeed, the 27-year-old wingback scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring in the 14th minute.
Furthermore, his set-piece deliveries often caused chaos inside Sassuolo’s penalty area.
Dimarco & Calhanoglu Back to Form in Inter Milan 2-1 Sassuolo Win

Hakan Calhanoglu delivered a midfield masterclass against Juventus last weekend.
However, his double was not enough for three points as the Bianconeri claimed a late 4-3 win in the derby.
Nonetheless, the Turkish playmaker continued in the same vein last night.
Calhanoglu’s playmaking skills kept the Inter midfield tick over under pressure, making him a pivotal figure in the engine room.
Moreover, Calhanoglu’s consistence can encourage the Nerazzurri faithful following a turbulent summer.
Despite being heavily linked with a move to Istanbul, the 31-year-old has stayed put.
Meanwhile, Petar Sucic grabbed another assist in Serie A, showing he could be one of the protagonists this season.
Defense needs to be changed, urgently. Player walked in to our goal amongst 5 of our players. Strikers too much wasteful. That’s why i was rooting for one proven striker to be brought in summer, Pio is certainly a talent, but you can’t expect from him yet 20 goals in season in Seria A, Bonny is also at his level, both are 4th option as strikers. This season should’ve get minutes from bench mostly, plus place amongst starting 11 against weaker clubs, not to depend on them to deliver, because both Lautaro and Thuram aren’t killers in front of a goal. Lautaro can deliver anything between 20 and 30 per season goals, depending on his form, Thuram hasn’t yet scored 20, he simply isn’t classic number 9, he’s a winger. Left side last night was good, i just wish to see 1 game where Bastoni is cb in 4 back formation, Carlos lb and Dimarco lw. I think Dimarco would shine since he would have less defensive assignments and free reign in attack, 20 g+a easy.
I don’t know how long you’ve been watching this team, but ever since Inzaghi took over (and it continues under Chivu), Inter is not really dependent on their strikers to score goals. The team has scored 11 goals in 4 matches and you’re crying about the strikers? This team was the top scoring team in Serie A the past two seasons, the second top scoring team in Seria A (6 goals less than Napoli) in the 2022/23 season, and the top scoring team in the 2021/22 season. This has been happening even with Lautaro being on and off and Thuram not being a “killer”.
Strikers who scores goals are needed because our defense is never worse. Last season we lost many, many points because our strikers were shooting blanks in second half of season. We became like Barcelona, who needs to outscore every opponent because their defense is a joke. But we don’t have explosivity and youth like they have. What happens when opposite team close down our wingbacks completely, like in some games last season? 70% of our attacks are going over them, the rest are set pieces and a couple of attacks through middle
the problem with the attack is that we have only two top level players, the other two are still way below..we can not expect Esposito and Bonny, at leats not at this moment, to constitute the attacking backbone of the club that aspires to win titles.
This can be done very easy in FC26…
