Former Inter Milan midfielder Hernanes has praised Francesco Pio Esposito after the young forward scored his first Serie A goal in the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win against Cagliari.
The Brazilian believes the teenager is mature enough for the spotlight after he came on to score on Saturday night.
Hernanes also highlighted Inter’s growth under Cristian Chivu, pointing to their ability to win difficult matches.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, with quotes via FCInter1908, Hernanes said:
“Some people said Chivu can’t imitate Inzaghi, but who said that?
“The good things should be copied,” Hernanes added, “And then you add your own touch.”
“Inter continue to play the best football in Serie A,” he said.
“Chivu is getting the best out of the players and making the team play well.”
Former Inter Man Hernanes Has Confidence In Pio Esposito
Hernanes explained why he thinks the 19-year-old is already prepared for the pressure of top-level football.
“Yes, you should protect him, but in my opinion you don’t need to go slowly with Pio Esposito because he is ready,” Hernanes said.
“You need to be careful only when you praise players who don’t have the potential,” he added.
“Because then you ruin them.”
The former Inter and Lazio midfielder concluded “If a boy is mature and ready like Pio, there is no need to hold him back.”
in terms of best football compared to inzaghi, no chivu hasn’t showed it yet. inzaghi had moments where he implemented total football, but not for too long. it was joy, but in a season where you had to play every 3 days it only hurt the team. chivu just needs to be himself. there are some positives, but he still seems like modern spalleti to me. I’m always longing for a legacy at inter, I thought it was inzaghi cause he did that to lazio. if chivu can prove himself he’s worth the job, I’ll support him like I backed inzaghi every up and down. no need to compare ourselves to other teams. as long as we can produce stability and consistency, we’re good. I mean we reached two CL finals with aging players under inzaghi
Agree with you till one point, we have reached 3 european finals bu tall of them were lost due to the fact that we had no balls coaches, modern football penalizes deffensive teams, we are on the right path with Chivu, this type of play will bring us throphies imo.
Pio should definitely play more especially against teams like Cagliari who are much inferior.
