Inter captain Lautaro Martinez wrote another page in the club’s history during Saturday’s 2-0 win away to Cagliari.
The Argentine striker struck early to put his team in front, netting his 12th goal in 12 career appearances against the Sardinian side.
It was not just another decisive moment from the Nerazzurri’s captain.
Lautaro’s strike was also his 117th in Serie A for Inter, moving him into the top five scorers in the club’s league history.
In doing so, he surpassed Sandro Mazzola and closed the gap on legends such as Alessandro Altobelli, István Nyers, Benito Lorenzi and Giuseppe Meazza.
Lautaro Martinez Chasing Club Legends’ Records At Inter After Goal Vs Cagliari

The Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlighted the significance of the milestone, noting that Lautaro is now just 11 goals behind Altobelli’s tally of 128.
Above him are Nyers on 133, Lorenzi on 138, and Meazza’s record of 197.
With his contract running until 2029 and his role as the focal point of Inter’s attack secure, the Nerazzurri captain has time on his side to climb further.
His performances against Cagliari, in particular, underline his ability to deliver in big moments and sustain his remarkable scoring rate.
Summary:
Martinez- Didn’t have any job to do last night. Better to keep him on goal because Sommer isn’t getting any younger or better, and it’s come time to see at the end of the season if we need new starter gk, or if Martinez will rise to the occasion.
Akanji- Best game so far, done what needed to be done, similar to Pavard in form, if injuries get around him, than better option than the French.
De Vrij- Worst last night out of 3 cbs, but even then good game, need to starts in more game than Acerbi this season.
Bastoni- Don’t think he lost any duel, great assist, all expect this kind of performances from him in every game.
Henrique- Worst player out of starters last night after Thuram. Not visible in either attack or defense, another subpar game.
Augusto- Not the best game, passing solid, probably changed substituted early cause of yellow card.
Barella- Our worker bee, ok game, but for him maybe bellow average, cause he is our most consistent midfielder.
Hakan- Good game, passing on average better than last few games, even though he didn’t score or give assist, sidebar got in the way of goal, but still defensive play below average.
Mkhitaryan- Good presence in midfield, passing good, but finishing terrible. Chivu need to stop using him the whole game, he’ll get tired by January.
Lautaro- Good game, 1 goal out of 5 shots, not bad, even so the only one in team who can guarantee us minimum 20 goals per season, defensive play better than most strikers.
Thuram- Here begins his usual play, a couple of good games, than a period of bad games, usually because of his lackluster effortless style.
Subs:
Dimarco- Excellent game, passing, created chances, it was that Dimarco we all love and expect. Good sliding tackle to stop that shot in penalty area, at least i think it was him.
Pio- Extremely good in holding the ball, keeping 2 man on his back, glad that he scored first goal in Seria A.
Frattesi- Good awareness in penalty box, better than some quality strikers.
Dumfries- 20 minutes spent on the pitch, too little time to do anything as a wingback.
Bonny- Too little time on the pitch.
All in all, 3 points won, that’s the most important thing, no allowed goals, no real chances for them, except sidebar shot. But we need to close the game earlier, especially against the weaker teams.
