Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries spoke to DAZN ahead of tonight’s Serie A clash against Lazio, urging his teammates to channel their focus.

“The important thing is to improve – we’ve worked well these past few days and we’re ready to win tonight.”

Asked if the Nerazzurri had revenge in mind for the previous draw between the sides, Dumfries dismissed the idea of looking back.

A 2-2 tie at the end of last season effectively cost the Nerazzurri the Scudetto, with a late penalty from Pedro levelling the game.

“Not specifically, because that’s the past,” he said. “Tonight is another match, another season – and we just have to win.”

Speaking separately to Inter TV, via FCInterNews, Dumfries expressed confidence in the team’s mood and preparation.

He highlighted the importance of ending the first part of the season strongly before the international break.

“The team is feeling great, we’re full of energy,” he said.

“It’s a very important game for our journey, and we’re ready to win.”

Looking ahead to the challenge, the Dutchman recognised Lazio’s quality while drawing motivation from his personal record.

“They’re a strong team with a lot of quality and technical players,” Dumfries noted.

“I’ve scored in my last three matches against them – I didn’t know that, but it’s a nice motivation to score again tonight.”
