Inter Milan have reportedly earmarked Fiorentina defender Dodo as a potential backup option if they fail to sign Marco Palestra.

According to Italian journalist Enzo Bucchioni via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri could land the Brazilian in January.

Marco Palestra remains a dream signing for the San Siro outfit.

However, Atalanta’s €40 million asking price remains a significant roadblock.

Meanwhile, Inter are unwilling to go beyond €25 million to sign the highly-rated Italian wingback.

With Atalanta reluctant to budge on their valuation, Inter must consider other options.

It’s hard to expect Inter to pull off a deal of this magnitude in January.

Indeed, Cristian Chivu’s men are operating on a tight budget, making it nearly impossible to match Atalanta’s demands.

Therefore, the Serie A leaders have expanded their search.

Fiorentina stalwart Dodo could be an exciting solution, especially given La Viola’s ongoing difficulties.

Nailed to the bottom of the Serie A table, Fiorentina could face an exodus in January.

As such, the Brazilian wingback could be available on a cut-price deal.
