Bastoni came under heavy scrutiny after his theatrical dive against Juventus tricked referee Federico La Penna into sending off Pierre Kalulu.

On Saturday, Lecce supporters targeted him from the outset, booing his every touch.

Nonetheless, the defender maintained his composure and helped Inter secure a crucial victory in the title race.

Meanwhile, Chivu’s decision to hand the captain’s armband to Stefan de Vrij had nothing to do with Bastoni’s current situation.
