Rumors today from Spanish media. A journalist from AS tells us that Erick Thohir’s real objective this summer was, in fact, a new coach. Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid. According to AS, Thohir offered Simeone a blank contract, meaning that Thohir stood ready to pay whatever Simeone demanded. Yet, “Il Cholo” turned Inter down, as well as the role as head-coach for the Argentinian national team after recent departure of Alejandro Sabella, all to stay at Atletico Madrid.

LOL no way Thohir did that. Maybe he made a contact with Simeone. No way he would do something like “offering a blank contract”.
I was hoping to see Simeone at Inter but that was until his behavior after Atletico lost the UCL final – don’t necessarily know if I want that sort of behavior associated with our club especially from the manager/coach.
I think Mazzarri is a fine individual to represent our club and a very good coach, he just needs a little time to get our house in order. Plus its not like he has the squad quality like 2005-11 to work with, that’s something a lot of us might be forgetting

Agreed. This is the sort of thing Moratti would try. Plus Simeone would have to be mad to leave Atletico the summer he’s finally ended the Real-Barca duopoly, and has a realistic chance of upending the la liga balance for years. ~ Seeing his best xi of the world cup really emphasised his astuteness. I honestly struggle to replace his attackers with the likes of james and neymar. he’s smart-really really smart 🙂
