Inter-president Erick Thohir spoke to Gazzetta della Sport today from the Asian Film Festival in Rome, Thohir spoke about the status of Serie A.
“Italy are fortunate to have the Serie, which is one of the top four leagues in the world. Yet it is not number one anymore, it was in the 90’s. Serie A needs to to something and adapt more than before. The United States are on the rise and we hope to establish our name there. The same goes for Asian nations like Thailand or Malaysia, where the internet usage has a growth of 50% annualy.”

Yeah Serie A is in serious trouble. At the moment it seems to be coasting along but the long term damage will only show up in ten years or so. This is when those coming through now will not remember the glory days of Serie A and only see it as a middling league beset by corruption and mismanagement in crumbling stadia. If Serie A does not change its way its fall will only continue.
