Walter Mazzarri was interviewed by Radio Rai and BeIn Sports after the heavy defeat against Fiorentina away at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
“Words are of very little use today. I’ve already spoken to the boys as so many of them are called away for international duty so we have to only work in order to solve the many problems that we have. I’ve already told them what I want to say, we are all angry with the result and with how the match went and how it finished.”
“I’m sure that we will come back soon, but we have to work in order to resolve the problems in the shortest time possible. The tactical line-up? It doesn’t depend on that at all, I didn’t like the way the match went, but I don’t want to talk that much about the match. We know what the problems are and we have to work, as I mentioned, in order to resolve them. Talking now doesn’t do any good. We thought that some could perhaps be overcome by a psychological shock but it didn’t turn out like that. We’re looking forward.”
Moments later he was interviewed by Sky Sport where he continued on the path he’d started in the previous interviews.
“Whoever speaks after a 3-0 defeat suffered in this manner would be making a mistake. Everything is clear to us, I’ve already spoken to the players. We have problems, you can’t hide this fact. We were able to mask them a little bit in the Europa League match but tonight they were there for all to see. I tried to give them a shock but I knew that we weren’t in a great physical shape. I’ve said that we need to work in a certain way during the upcoming 15 days, we have to enter the pitch in a different condition in the upcoming match.”
“If it’s an error in the tactical system? We changed things round but sometimes we were out of luck and sometimes we weren’t good enough. When you go 2-0 down you lose faith and confidence, it’s difficult to be able to react in a difficult place like here. Everything went bad. I think I know what is needed in order to improve. If we’re missing a game plan? You make mistakes also due to lucidity. Up until the first goal by Cagliari we played some very good games. I know our world. Why isn’t there a reaction? I could say what is happening but that would be like trying to find excuses. Then it’s back to saying that I’m looking for excuses. I’ve been through moments like this many times before, I think the less I say the better it is. The important thing is that the players know. They are determined to come out of it.”
“Palacio? Rodrigo know himself that he isn’t feeling good. If he was feeling good then he would certainly play. We hope that we can use these 15 days to get him back into a good shape. It’s not only him who has had these problems. For example, Medel arrived with an injury. These things make you pay when you have so many commitments.”
In conclusion Mazzarri was asked about these problems he kept referring to, if they were only physical or due to other reasons to which he responded: “Not just physical issues, there are other problems. But I can’t say any more. Luckily we’re only 6 days into the championship so there is time to repair this. We’ve started a new cycle, we were hoping not to have these mishaps.”

he always said if the teams are tired, even last season where this team only play in 2 championship (serie A and copa) they got the same result. just another shitty shit reason. in europa league they only win with 2 goals, even i don’t even know where the Qarabag is??
YES! AND THE BIGGEST ONE IS YOU YOURSELF
Mr Thohir, this is a great opportunity to extend Mazzarri’s contract at a paycut. With these embarassing 2 losses you can tell WM that Serie A’s best team has a coach who has a 2 mill salary and he gives results. Mazzarri is the second highest paid coach in Serie A and Inter are in 10th place and clearly he is not worth his pay at all. You need to put your faith in Mazzarri and extend his contract at a pay cut. Inter fans understand that this team really misses Jonathan in the lineup. Maybe they miss Rolando’s goal scoring ability too. Maybe the reality is Palacio is pushing retirement and can’t play twice in 1 week. Maybe it was a mistake to keep Guarin over Alvarez………there are alot of Maybes but the fact of the matter is this: if any of these excuses are true this team absolutely sucks!
Mr. Thohir: PLEASE Extend Mazzarri’s contract – let me continue watching Inter play like they did yesterday for the remainder of the season as it will bring much joy to me 🙂
we need to protest
No, Mr.Mazzari, There’s no many problem, only one problem, it’s you….
Now we all agree Mazzarri has to go. Sooner rather than later ET will stop backing him. Where next? My opinion is we need someone who can teach our team how to play football so Frank DBoer or a Montella would be ideal rather than a Mancini who’s teams don’t play great football and its more about results.. Montella or DBoer would fit in perfectly with our players and could develop them and at the same time get results. We need a strategy/philosophy to back to being top. I doubt Montella would leave Fiorentina after signing a new contract however DBoer is looking for a move. I highly doubt Mazzarri will last till new year with our fixture list. New year hopefully new manager.
I said this from day one bro, ur spot on,,,,,,, agree with you 100%
Do not exaggerate it,sir! Anything has its own rules. There is only 1 problem, that is you!! You and your f**king tactics, approach, mentality, style of play, and anything else that made inter lost!!! That’s the problem and the only solution is just resign, sir!!
Simple, WM must go & all problems solved .. bring Mancini or Leonardo ..
“Palacio? Rodrigo know himself that he isn’t feeling good. If he was feeling good then he would certainly play.”
Okay, I can understand that Mazzarri, but:
“It’s not only him who has had these problems. For example, Medel arrived with an injury.”
Then why the hell do you play Medel if he is out of shape? Seriously, is this guy even thinking before speaking?
First of all, inter does not have a real leader in the team that can motivate the team on the pitch like we used to with Zanetti and Cambiasso and secondly we have a coach that plays in a certain way and does not have the right players for his formation in the current squad ( good wingbacks) yet he choose to renew his contract and that to me is just plain stupid of him. If he wants to lead the team he should have demanded the right players otherwise better to leave the job and let somebody else take over…..now he just looks stupid trying to fix his problems without the right means….good luck Mazzari you will need that if you want to survive to Christmas!
Thohir will never fire him because it’s all about money. The prob is ET forcing Mazz hand in playing the marketable player… out of form Medel, Vidic and Nagatomo.
how do you know this? we should have kept rolando over getting vidic. nobody cares he was the man utd captain. marketability my ass
lol you act like you really saw what happens yourself lol this what we do if we lose, keep suspicious about everything, and believe only our stupid suggestion without found any fact
look at roma’s back four and the GK and compare with inter’s. do you think they are better? big NO…
it’s down to the coach to instill the strategy and motivation..
yet mazzari failed to do so
I am after you mate…
Spot on! It’s all about coaching and motivating the players
Being in the pro-Mazzarri Inter camp, today’s game was definitely hard to watch for a multitude of reasons. I found the effort put in by the players rather atrocious as well. Couple of points that come to mind –
– In this game, I attribute blame to Mazzarri not so much for the formation and players he picked (which are sometimes forced on you) but more for being unable to inspire the guys after they went 1-0 and 2-0 down. THIS (lack of fight) was worrisome, much more so than tactics which can be fixed more easily
– We did change to a back 4 but that seemed to make little to no difference. Not that change of formation matters much when the performance is at this “level”
– There seems to be a lack of desire in the players, and yes it is customary to blame the manager for that (rightfully so) but changing the manager at this stage might result in a few sprightly performances but I fear we will go back to our current malaise eventually
– I would evaluate until December. If we observe zero improvement till December then it might be time to start a new “project”. Another benefit with this approach is it will also help the club to target the right winter transfers based on who is in charge come January
Just Please we want mazzari OUT NOW!
The problem is simple, our players have lost their confidence and enthusiasm on Mazzarri’s stubbornness and his lame tactical approaches. As we can see they were clueless on the pitch. Mazzarri kept using the same rigid tactical approach and formation although Inter kept losing points even against much weaker team. The game against Cagliari had proven this hypothesis concisely. Mazzarri only knows one formation 3-5-2 with no backup plan. If the plan is not working, we’re just waiting a ticking bomb that could explode anytime. Moreover, Mazzarri does not possess the ability to manage player’s mood and motivate them like Mancio or Mou did in the past and brought them to the top as a champions. The best solution? We know the answer, Mazzarri can count his days in Inter if he kept refusing to change and improve his tactical approaches. Thohir is not happy at all with the progress, and I predict he will have sacked Mazzari by the end of this month if there are no signs of improvement.
I don’t believe that I’ll say that, cos i have always been one of biggest Mazzarri critics but players have to take their part of the responsibility. They looked like someone force them to go out on the pitch. It’s just unacceptable high payed professional players to make so many elementary errors, to play without any desire to win and total lack of aggression. I’m sure that Mazzarri is not the coach who will bring us where we were 2010, but to fire him right now it’s not the best idea. Right now we need to be patient, trying to find some consistent, not to make desperate moves.
Once you lose the players’ trust you can pretty much kiss your job goodbye. I don’t think he can regain the dressing room after two humiliations in a row. And if he can’t motivate them we’ll see the same shitty performances for a long time. I say get rid of him while we still have time to salvage the season.
agree with you
And the main problem is you. Start with fixing that. A resignation will suffice.
hate to admit but it’s true. this player attitude looks like they respect mazzarri no more. i don’t know whats really going on, thohir must evaluate this quickly.
