With some of Europe’s top clubs circling the Nerazzurri want to extend the contract of their top goalscorer as soon as possible. Gazzetta dello Sport picks up on the rumours surrounding Mauro Icardi’s future at Inter. The player is now thought to be worth between €25-30 million but Inter at this stage are not interested in a sale. With the January transfer period approaching the club would like to avoid any controversy and extend the Argentinian hitman until 2019. Piero Ausilio spoke with Icardi’s agent last week to formalise the parameters of an extension. There is a basis for agreement (significant raise, bonuses and some image rights) as Inter can not risk the player receiving a tempting offer from any of Europe’s cash rich clubs. There is also the words against some of Inter’s supporters on Sunday night. Although this was an emotional response immediately after the game could it point to a deeper rooted unhappiness? Yet another reason for Thohir and Ausilio to get any extension sorted as a matter of urgency.
