We hardly ever saw Rolando in a 4 man defense, he may not be all that good in such a setup, and Mancini probably knows a lot more about this than we do. He was decent in Mazzarri’s system, yes, but there’s no guarantee he would fit in well in Mancio’s.
As for Rhodolfo, I’m guessing since he’s a player from the Brazilian league, he’s well known to Sylvinho, and we’ve shown interest in him before. Maybe he’s not all that bad, and maybe he’s even better than Rolando.
We will see but I would much rather have a player that has already played in Europe for some of the bigger clubs and has played 1 season for us and excelled in his position than a 28 year old that nobody else wants to buy and has only played in 1 league.
plus rolando is a “Mazza-man” and therefor will never be signed by Mancio who understandable enough, wants to create his “own” team with “his” men in it!
Rolando might be a good defender, hes never gonna improve on what he has now. at least this guy is some we can see if hes good. if not, we can keep going with who we have right now and confirm Schar and Murillo deals in the summer
But Rolando proved stability and consistancy when playing for us, and you would switch that for a gamble on a player that has never played outside Brazil and nobody in Europe wants to buy? Not to mention he is not young so its not like he has potential to be really good. I mean if some1 asked me, for the same money, I would take Rolando, who proved himself to play good and consistant, over Rhodolfo every day.

If we’re going after 28-30 years old central defenders, I’d prefer Rolando over this guy. Rhodolfo is 28 while Rolando is 29, the difference is Rolando has European experience and is familiar with Italian football. Rolando did well with us during his loan last year while Rhodolfo is totally unproven.
