After Inter’s disappointing draw at Celtic Park, Roberto Mancini spoke to Sportmediaset about the match:
“I think that we started the first half very well, but towards the end we thought that the match was over. We should have continued playing our game for the whole match. We need to grow up. Having said that, getting a 3-3 draw in Glasgow is definitely a result we should be angry about. Kuzmanovic had a good game. He did not play in the last 4 games, so today he eventually got very tired. We have to understand that if you defend too deep things get worse, and sooner or later, you will get punished. Based on the way we started the match, we are regretting this result. I do no think that he [Kovacic] was ready to play in the midfield. He must perform his role in the team. This is not a failure, and Mateo will play in the upcoming games.”

you all must have watched a different game then me. Ranocchia was possibly our best defender today and I’m sick of everyone always blaming him. The first goal was Kuz’s fault and the second was Campagnaro’s. JJ was terrible most of the game as well, and Carizzo never looked comfortable. Our problem is when our deep lying midfielders don’t control the game we get exposed at the back. We needed more possession in the midfield, where Kovacic would have been perfect over Kuz. Rano isn’t the problem.
I watch the games and see throughout the 90 minutes Rannochia constantly misplacing passes, panicking when he has the ball and an attacker comes to pressure, long passes to the crowd, slowness and lack of grinta.
Every.single.game. Including Celtic. Maybe you need to watch closer. And the rest of the defense suffers when your captain is so shaky and lack confidence. Juan needs a better partner. This is what I see.
you talking about campagnaro right
thank you
God damn well said…
I am also saying blaming Rano against Celtic , especially the 3rd goal is just showing blatant blind biasness. I think Rano needs to leave to but there was no way Celtic should have even gotten the ball back at the 92nd minute mark.. Why are we trying to go forward after 90 minutes and we are in the lead away from home. Simple ball possession should have won us this game after 90th minute… Exactly the same problem I had vs Torino.
Campagnaro is shit but We dont have choice right now, it will be better when D’ Amb back. But why the fuxk Mancini call Fuxking Dodo at 80 min, it is dangerous using him even a second. Whenever he is on the field ,we will lost at least 1 , who else is better than him.
I just don’t get it, why the f**k st*pid Ranocchia keep on playing?
Okay,I think I finally calmed down.Where should I start? First of all this result isn’t a failure depending on how you see it,I mean I’m positive if I asked an inter fan in december or even This year after the match against Sassuolo if they would take a draw the majority would have said yes.Looking at it we came a long way from Mazarri, the team is improving slowly.Of course we are a long way off from the side we’ve all given a place in our hearts back in 2010 but we can’t do it overnight or even half a season, lets be realistic. With that being said today I really thought we had enough to get the win and that last goal sent me crazy. We simply switched off and that was to our demise.I must say the players who i was worried about played well, palacio given the keeper’s mistakes managed to score a couple.I mean it doesn’t say his form is back 100 percent but its a good sign.Shaqiri also looks like his form is back after being left to rot on Bayern’s bench he could really help over the course of the season.Rano didn’t look that bad ..don’t get me wrong am not a fan of him really but giving credit where it is due..Campagnaro tough luck get over it,could prove costly but what’s done is done.I was a bit disappointed to see that icardi after all the hype didn’t score but this is a match played for 180 mins and we have to get this behind us.I know it was disappointing but we must move on and continue to improve #forzainter
Rano didn’t look that bad? We must have watched different game.. Second and third goal are all because of his stupidity..
The reason i said he wasn’t that bad because with typical rano in the back there and we would have shipped 4-5 goals. Not a fan but come on he wasn’t thaaaat bad, just trying to be positive. But your right though i blame the defence collectively.Mind you we could have headed to the corner flag but in an attacking play Kova lost the ball and well…yeah but, for the 3rd goal Dodo should have been covering. No way that dude should have been allowed a clear shot on goal
fuck you all! you dont get it?/?? our most talented player is Kovacic!!! yeah he is young and makes mistakes but he needs to play…I am afraid that Mancini will ruin him like we do with couthino
What a way to start a post. And so you know better player management than Mancini? ok.
I like the way he/she started the post. my feeling too. The way manccini is treating Kova is humiliating and insulting.
Long balls right into the middle of the defence with tall players like Juan and especially Ranocchia was really hard to watch not to mention Camapgnaro constantly giving away the ball
Kovacic played in a lot of different position, from Strama, Mazzari, and now Mancini.
we got 3 away goals guys. luck swung both ways tonight for both teams. Yes we should have won but we played well. I was impressed by Shaqiri and Palacio. Defense held well just minor mistakes were made. Plain and simple. We should go through after the game at home next week. Celtic Park is difficult to play in guys. Remember they beat Barcelona 2 years ago and this team still has some of those players on that team that were present. I’ll take this result anyday
It’s not minor mistakes to concede 3 goals, 2 of which in the space of 2 minutes mate. We were just lucky they were just as bad, because all of our goals came from individual mistakes as well.
We were decent in attack, but the fact that the defense is in shambles can undo all that in seconds, as it did.
Look it came down to luck as I said. The first goal was our bad and Campagnaro was very unlucky. The third goal was some what deserved but it did look offside to be but apparently not. Mistakes happen and today was one of the days where we made up for it. We were not that bad today and we held our own most of the game. Luck was not on our side and we have been playign better the last few games. It happens and now we look forward. This preformance was decent not bad as you said. If Mazzarri was coaching, we’d have lost this game 3-0. e certainyl played worse than today and you know it
The Kovacic issue is becoming very pressing.
Mancini seems to think this is the only system that can work for the team right now, which is, of course, the top priority. Brozovic is very important, Guarin has hit form and Shaqiri is Shaqiri. It seems beyond logic that a player of Kovacic’s caliber isn’t a starter for Inter, but Mancio seems to have some issues with him before he can let him play (Mazzarri treated him the same if you remember).
Mateo evolved and came right back into the center of things for Mazzarri, assuming control over the entire team. I’m sure he’s capable of the same now, I just hope that his patience lasts. I’m worried because he seemed frustrated and aggressive today, which never has been the case with him before. And he’s perhaps rightly frustrated too. Seeing Kuzmanovic start ahead of me would upset me too 😛
Inter is doing a very bad job developing Kovacic just like Coutinho. Everyone in Inter are always saying that Kova is in the center of the project but it doesn’t look like that now.. If Kova leaves for more stable club I’m sure that he will explode just like Cou and Inter will still be where it is now..
Inter doesn’t have money to buy world class players so it would be a huge blow to screw up with Kovacic who surely has potential to become one.
So far only thing I like about Mancini’s work is the transfers, with everything else I’m not convinced..
I agree Mateo is much more than what we’ve seen of him (and we’ve already seen a lot).
I think that the instability of the club in general is affecting him as well, it’s sad, but inevitable.
As for Mancio, I definitely think there’s an improvement compared to Mazzarri. But I think that what we should expect of Mancio shouldn’t be trophies. I think Mancio is a builder, he’ll build us a team that we can later use (with modifications) to actually win trophies with another coach. But he’s a step ahead, that much I’m sure of.
He is surely better than Mazzari, no doubt there. I also think that Inter has to use him on the transfer market and then get someone else to win trophies. But if he fails to make the most of Kova that would be a huge blow that Inter couldn’t compensate on the transfer market.
The only thing that I’ll disagree is that you see Mancini as a builder. In my opinion he never was a builder, not with us, Manchester City or Galatasaray. Everywhere he was counting on proven players and that’s why he’s struggling now.
Probably I am the only one here that thinks that Kova is just an ordinary player…I see nothing special from him
Some passes we’ve seen from him, slicing the ball both with the inside and outside of his foot. Good quick combinations with team-mates. And some dribbles with great acceleration with ball at feet. At 20 years old is definitely something not ordinary.
Your opinion mate, I think he’s the most talented player on the squad and that we’re not doing a good enough job in developing him.
Would hate to see him as the next Coutinho, going elsewhere and doing twice as good. But I’d prefer that to seeing his talent rot on the bench because the squad is generally unbalanced.
You’re right it’s not failure, but huge failure. Did Mancini knows that in football there’s three substitutions and you can make them before 85 minute? How about Campagnaro and Ranocchia performances, was it failure or not? I as a fan can’t be proud, from what we played against more than mediocre Celtic team, don’t know about Mancini
He’s saying the result is decent, it’s probably something we would’ve accepted if it was offered to us before kick off 🙂
But he’s also probably well aware of the alarming state of our defense. We were simply lucky that our opponents’ defense was just as bad as ours today. The result in itself isn’t negative, though. 3 away goals and a draw is something that should give you the upper hand in the return fixture.
I don’t care what he’s saying. The reality is that we can’t afford to play like that and to concede that kind of goals against mediocre team like Celtic. Otherwise we can’t expect anything good in Europa League and in Serie A. You can remind me, what are the results and what kind of chances we have in Serie A and Europe League after Mancio received Shaqiri, Brozovic, Santon and Podolski as a new players.
Mancini’s words are way too soft for a shit defence….i expect harsher words for a very naiive wasteful defence …i feel bas for the strikers working their asses off in the front and a bunch of idiots in the back wasting everything….smh…cant wait for summer transfers
Result itself is not a failure, but that is because we got free goals. That shouldn’t hide the fact that our defense is absolutely shit, no teamwork, lack of quality. Ranocchia and Campagnaro simply shouldn’t start.
JJ was shit today as well, Ranocchia actually seemed more stable than him in the 2nd half.
But all in all, that’s an amateur defense. You don’t do that in games like these. Like you said, we were lucky they were just as bad. Well put.
Yes, Juan was shit today, but Ranocchia was much more worse than him. How about Vidic still warming the bench, what has to happen to step in the field? Campagnaro as a right back doesn’t deserve even to comment. I don’t see any tactical preparation how to counteract Celtic tipycal play on the wings.
Injuries held us back. 2 of our wing backs are injured
But JJ has some quality, only lacks experience which shows when it comes to positioning. If you take the whole season into account, I would chose JJ over Ranocchia every day.
Definitely, no discussion there.
Vidic and JJ should be a better partnershp
guys was that last goal an offside???
No.
No, the other attacker was offside, but he didn’t interact with the ball.
Never mind Mateo, do something about the defense.
