Inter went to Wolfsburg Arena with the task to defend the honor and pride of this shirt. Wolfsburg’s players and coach had spoken as if Inter was a mediocre team and were happy to draw Mancini’s men and after the beginning it seemed like Inter were going to prove the German’s wrong. Palacio scored an early goal and Inter were playing well and then the horror show started.

From a corner Wolfsburg defender Naldo got the draw and Juan lost his marking whilst Carrizo could’ve done better in goal. This repeated itself and Carrizo had yet two more howlers in the second half which saw Inter lose the game with 3-1. Before that Mancini had subbed Vidic onto the field taking Hernanes of which gave Wolfsburg an advantage on the midfield and did I mention that Vidic was responsible for the free kick that De Bruyne scored from?

For the first time since Mancini came to Inter I am questioning his approach to a game. First of all why didn’t Handanovic start? I understand Carrizo did well against Celtic but Celtic are with all due respect not near Wolfsburg’s standard. This is a European cup game against a Bundesliga top team, the best players should be on the pitch and Wolfsburg were nowehere near being as good as we might’ve thought before the game. Ot was possible getting a better result than we got in the end.

Inter gifted the German’s three goals and Mancini’s coaching needs to be questioned. Inter wasted this opportunity to show the world that they are on their way back to the European top football and no words can describe how disappointed I am. The return leg will be very hard because Inter needs to expose themselves to attack and get goals.

I don’t know why but I still have hope to make it through. It’s something in our DNA that says Inter never gives up but after giving 90 minutes away I’m wondering if never giving up will be enough . We have put ourselves in a situation that might not be able to save and the only ones the players and the coach can blame are themselves.
