Gianluca di Marzio reports that Icardi has yet to refuse Inter’s latest contract offer. The journalist writes that Inter wants to offer the striker an exension and that they want to increase the salary of the striker that is currently lower than one million euro’s. Once an agreement is reached, Inter could triple Icardi’s wages but the club wants the wage increase to start from the summer when they are no longer paying for Podolski(and other players). Icardi wants the wage increase straight away and the negotiations are ongoing. Inter wants to keep their top goal scorer.

Icardi deserves more than 3m euros per season. Look at Guarin, Palacio and Vidic who all earn over 3m per season. Tripling Icardi’s wage is fair enough!!!
We should renew all contracts, so the new contracts are majorly based on performance. Goals/assists for strikers and offensive wingers/midfielders, clean sheets for the GK and defenders. Lets see them earn their money then.

so, if we want to extend Icardi’s, it become inevitable to offer him also similar figure salary with the ‘non-productive’ players.

We are talking about a 3-3.5 months of increased Salary. At a 2 million salary difference that would be about half a million of extra pay for him. From what I heard about the ridiculous tax rate in Italy (about 40-50%), the amount before taxes the team would have to pay him will be around 1 million euros. No wonder the team is trying to negotiate here… But, at the end of the day, with a contract extension we can sell this guy for an extra 5-15 million euros next year if he delivers up to the expectations. So, I think it is a worthy investment. On the other hand, I do hope he cut the team some slack, as He has not accomplished anything yet. He is still a young promising star nothing more
To be honest, if this is the situation, Icardi would be a good boy to wait until the summer (not that it makes much difference at this point, and it would also be a statement for him to “understand” the club when it is in need).
But I’d still not risk losing him if he chooses to push this to the breaking point – he’s worth too much for us right now.
