Inter has problems to take care of for the coming away game against Udinese, mostly in defense. Since Ranocchia and Juan Jesus are suspended, Roberto Mancini will have to try to get Andreolli back. The Italian central defender picked up a knock on match day and wasn’t available against Roma due to this injury. It’s been said that Andreolli was injured in his toe.

We’re 5 points off 5th spot, but considering the fact that we’ve got Udinese and Lazio away + a game against Juventus (albeit it’s home and Juventus will probably already have won the Scudetto by that time) – it will be a miracle if it happens.
I’d be happy to see the kind of effort we gave against Roma in all remaining games, though, regardless of whether or not we manage to qualify. I’ve given up on the European spots a long time ago.

Medel can drop to CB easily. Cambiasso did when we needed it. All defensive midfielders can play CB
Medel said many times that he generally prefers a centre back role which he played for the national team.. But his height is a huge problem for crosses, that is why Mancini and mazzari never played him in that position (at least as long as I remember).. But in my opinion a centre back role is his natural position.
it actually doesnt matter most people misunderstand that a cb has to be tall but not really vidic is next to him in this case. The modern football needs two cbs one strong and one fast so medel vidic is a good combination. Medel played in the wc as a cb he was a boss in both 3 and 4 defender formation. Most important things in a cb are positioning and reaction.
you have to take the league into consideration, Italian football has many headers so we would be weak in every corner free kick, any form of crossing as inter need as many players with height as possible.. Although “kristijan” comment regarding 3 man defence makes sense as two other player of height would cover crosses..etc
He can do very well in e center back role, but considering his height he would do much better in a 3 man defense than in a 4 man defense (as he will have 2 other stoppers alongside him).
He did play as a center back for Chile, but they had a 3 man defense (played 3-4-3 if I’m not mistaken).

Santon can easily replace JJ on the left, and as far as centerbacks go, Vidič will cover one and Andreolli the other(Filipe or even Medel can cover too if Andreolli won’t be up to it).
