These were the words of Pirelli chief Marco Tronchetti Provera yesterday in an apparent ultimatum to Inter president Erick Thohir that the team need to start excelling or Pirelli will drop their sponsorship deal with the club.
“If Inter remains at this level it does not make sense for us to continue.”
Former president Massimo Moratti gave his opinion on the sponsor’s ultimatum.
“Well it is right that a sponsor seeks to spur the club on to prestigious goals. However this does not mean that Pirelli has decided to leave.”

Inter will make a deal with X-TRA JOSS !!! Indonesian Energy Drink…Lol
We get a decent amount for the shirt but the sponsorship deal with Pirelli hardly sets the world on fire. Unfortunately the worst time to negotiate is when you are weak and Inter are clearly that. Financially struggling, lacking European football, no real big star names and in a league that is clearly struggling in many areas. I would not be surprised however to see an Asian or in particular Indonesian company come in to align itself with Inter.
Very Difficult Time Inter is Going through….players are also not willing to join, since no europe…what a bad condition this club is in, wish to see Inter reach back at the top…from an Sad Inter Fan from Saudi Arabia
It will be good for Inter to part ways with Provera and Pirelli (besides the fact the their logo is really nice on our shirts). Thohir is starting a “new” project now and it seems only reasonable to me the the mainsponsor is being replaced with someone new. And Pirelli’s sponsorship is only product of two good comrades (Provera and Moratti) cooperation and bond (reason for small payments). Thohir luckily doesnt have any personal affections for this company, so let’s hope for a new sponsor!
Nice comment! I think Thohir will make a deal with other sponsor who will give a good contribution than Pirelli. Personal ties can be misused sometimes.
good then. i would rather we get some new multi million international sponsor than keep the same sponsor after a decade just for the sake of nostalgia
Pirelli are just expressing the emotions that every Inter fan across the world is feeling – it’s simply just not good enough these days .. but having been an Inter fan for many years I have learnt to be patient and have faith … Forza Pazza Inter
We should get Emirates as our sponsor and make them build a stadium for us ! 😀
I will give all my support to inter matter what happens. Do not forget how inter made me happy for many years and it’s time to give back
I will give all my support to internal matter what happens. Do not forget how interactivity made me happy for many years and it’s time to give back
Agree
You are free to go. It was a bad deal in the beginning. Nothing more but nostalgia.
Agree
Thohir must spend or leave. That’s it with all bullshit rumours of star players, then next day we hear names that we’ve never heard of before.
Booo..
Dam what is happening to inter…I keep waiting to see the light at the end of the tunnel .,,but I still don’t see it
I hope other sponsorship will replace pirelli, they contribution to Inter is so small. Check this out!

Wow great article. Kind of surprising. Maybe it wouldn’t be bad after all if they are able to find a new sponsor. Hopefully one that is willing to contribute more!!
More people need to check that article out!
maybe we should starting to get arabic sponsorship?
pirelli should be lucky to still be a sponsor of inter with the small amount of money the spend. if I’m not mistaken it is normal for a sponsor to pay more than they do, especially in the period 2005-2010 when inter could and should have set higher demands. i say dump them and get a deal that is worth more
Get rid of pirelli and get a good sponsor
There is a lot of international companies interested in having their logo on Inter shirt. We anyway receive small amount compared to other main sponsorship deals with other clubs. I am pretty confident Thohir and Bolinbrooke (or whatever his surname is) will find another interested company
How about Fly Emirates? Anw, I do agree with you.
Fxxk we are really in the whole. Our sponsor wants to leave, our most publicized summer target (Y Toure) said not, we are out of Europa unless a miracle happen, Ranochia renewal is almost a done deal, we are going to be hit by the FFP, which also ties E.T. hands when it comes to invest money in the summer… Gee this is really bad.
Inter will manage to handle it
Great! We take care of FFP and we lose main sponsor. Now time to got to Serie B.
Be optimistic!
Yeah yeah, always. 😀
change our main sponsor with Apple
or windows maybe
windows is a product. the company name is Microsoft mate
Oh my… I would rather go with Huawei, they make great products and are really big. Already sponsors for Milan unfortunately, but their contract will end in late 2016. They also have sponsorship with PSG, Arsenal, Atl. Madrid & Dortmund. For Dortmund in their stadium, they also delivers the wifi-network for the fans throughout the whole stadium with great capacity.
or samsung
Pirelli a company known world wide, it’s association with inter on its own attracts major firms to sponsor with inter. Thohir should take this note into serious consideration and make serious attempts into the market, starting with the defence. The stronger backline team has equals to more confidence going forward and better chance of creating a winning team.
FFP.
What are they going to do, inter are not in European competition. So, I think inter should go all in this summer and build a team properly this time or this team will be stuck like this for years and years to come.
Doesn’t matter, FFP works on 3 year cycles, so to theoretically avoid sanctions, we’d have to not qualify for any European football for a whole FFP cycle. Even then I don’t think that will stop UEFA sanctioning
look at the big picture here for a second, if inter risks this transfer market with quality signings this team might actually win something or at the very least be in the top 3, this way more fans will come to the stadium and buy inters merchandise.. In addition to investors appeal.. So basically without risk inter might go into a deeper whole as investors will back out or invest little and fans will barely come to the stadiums and less merchandise being sold.
As much as I would like to re-shape the current squad and add quality players, there’s an even bigger picture behind risking one transfer market full of spending. We’re already in trouble with UEFA for breaking FFP. To risk spending a fuckload of money this transfer window and the possibility of again not making Champions League football will put us in an even worse situation.
True but as I said there’s a greater risk, as one of the most loyal sponsors to inter are willing to leave because inter are not at that level anymore. See I’m a loyal supporter, and will support inter no matter what, but not all fans are like that. Eventually fans are the ones that funds clubs year after year, btw I’m not saying go insane like buy 60 mill on a player, but the management need to spend a little more than what they are currently spending to get players that can get u shirt sales that cover up the purchase payment itself. So maybe players like fekir and firmino will do the trick.
Its association with Inter and Moratti. Personally, I don’t mind if we change the sponsorship with the one who willing to contribute better. Their contract will end next season, and I think Thohir and Bollinbroke will search for other sponsorship. It will takes a while before inter shine again. Restructuring Inter needs time.
