Inter defender Juan Jesus has been speaking to Inter Channel after last night’s win against Empoli at San Siro which saw Inter miss out on a Europa League place by 1 point.
Here are the Brazilian’s words:
“We’ve lost points in matches we should have won. We wasted too many opportunities and lacked the character in some matches when we needed to be doing everything to win.”
“We’ve lacked things this year which we mustn’t lack next year. We played well against Roma, Lazio and Fiorentina, the teams that are ahead of us. But we’re not too far off and we’re a young group.”

I agree that JJ has not had his best season. But I still see him as future in the Inter defens. He need and older rock solid defender to support him and bring his self confidence up to speed. I think that Vidic has brought some of stability into the defence and hope the his injury problems will be minimised. I think that Rano does not fulfil the captain role. He make major mistakes in every game and therefor must must be replaced.

I actually agree with Ketil. The guy is so explosive but needs guidance, imagine him playing along side a great defender (and leader) such as Thiago Silva (example). The problem is that Rano does not know how to lead the line and communicate well with his partners. I would love to see Glik in an Inter shirt, paired with JJ as he is great in positioning, and more importantly knows how to hold a defensive line!

Mentality is not the worst thing to lack for a 23 year old defender. That is something he can work on. We can teach him to play smarter and hopefully through all the mistakes he learns. He is strong, good in the air and pretty quick for a defender. We can still mold him…..I would love it if we could send him out on loan to play but that probably wont happen.

I agree with you 100 percent. The problem with them is that neither of them seem to pair well with the other. I think we need to see who pairs best with murriello. I mean Rano looked not half bad when paired with vidic and he actually looked good for the national team. My fear is that he is like Fabio grosso though. Amazing for the national team but never great for club.
Rano and Vidic as a centerback pairing leave us way too vulnerable against fast attackers.

agree…we need competent defenders, maybe we can sell naga to barca, cause dani alves also not very adept in defending. if we have a complete high skill midfielders maybe the current quartet will cut it, but we dont have that luxury at the moment, so we need and should try another combination, our current players just wont make it.
I agree that our defence is immature and leaky; but i think that JJ and ranochia are capable of so much more. To give them credit they were under alot of incompetent coaches over the last few years, which confused the living daylights out of them! They are not sure wether to chase the ball or do the maccarena.
I say give them a pre-season with mancini then we can judge them.
Remeber how good they were when they played in a back three either side of samuel “i know its because of samuel!” But they can be good again, they are/were in high demand and are considered young for defenders, and they play for the love of inter!!
Yes I agree with this. A full preseason under the same coach may do us well. Mancini already said that he will be making rano sweat in the preseason so maybe this will be good. I still would like us to bring in benatia cause then we can have an experienced defender playing in there but ill take whatever we get.
they are good, indeed, but this three years there been too many mistakes from the back. I just thought its time to try new combination..and by combination i mean its open to any kind of possibilities, but not this current back 4.
