The player’s transfer market may be what fans most anticipate during the summer, but things are already moving along in the backrooms.
Inter announced the addition of a new, highly experienced director just minutes ago.
Statement via Inter.it:
“MILAN – FC Internazionale Milano is pleased to announce Robert Faulkner as the Club’s new Chief Communications Officer. Faulkner has over 20 years of experience in media and communications both in sport and the corporate world and will join the Nerazzurri in time for their tour of China in July.
“I am delighted to welcome Robert to FC Internazionale as CCO where he will lead and strengthen the communications area during this dynamic period in the club’s history,” said CEO Michael Bolingbroke. “Robert has a proven track record in the world of communications, both in the football industry and the corporate sector. He will work across all areas of the club’s communication strategy, both at home and internationally, and will significantly strengthen our senior Management Team.”
Faulkner was previously Head of Communications for UEFA during a 12-year career at European football’s governing body. During that time he worked under both Presidents Lennart Johansson and Michel Platini responsible for the communication division, devising corporate strategy, supervising the press office, overseeing media operations and accreditations for all UEFA competitions, and providing strategic advice to UEFA’s top management. Acting as UEFA’s official spokesman Faulkner was the institution’s direct contact for all international media.
After 12 years at UEFA, in 2013 he was appointed senior consultant at international company Leidar Communications, working across the organisation’s sporting and corporate divisions.
“It’s an honour to be joining such a prestigious club with so much history,” stated Faulkner. “I can’t wait to put my sports experience and international network to the service of Inter. The communications strategy of a world-famous club like the Nerazzurri is a key element in building a top club, both on and off the pitch. Inter supporters in Italy and all over the world look towards and listen to us and we’re ready to tell them our story and lead them into the future.”
Faulkner began his career in 1991 at London sports PR consultancy firm Jardine International working for clients on major international events including: Camel Trophy, Formula 1 and the Whitbread Round the World Race. In 1996, he joined Yamaha Motor Europe in Amsterdam, overseeing product communications and working with the World Superbike Team before moving to Toyota’s European headquarters in Brussels. At Toyota he headed up new product launches in Europe for both Toyota and Lexus brands overseeing their motor sports communications in the World Rally Championship and for their entry into Formula 1.
Faulkner speaks four languages: English, Italian, French and Spanish. He holds an Executive Master of Science in Communications Management from the Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. During the twenty-month course, he reinforced his communications experience gaining new perspectives in the management of stakeholder relationships, reputation management, and corporate identity at a strategic level. The course included a two-week management session at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Faulkner also has a BA honours in Geography from The University of Nottingham. He is married with one child. ”

This is his profile. I hope he finally enlarges the YouTube channel to INTERNATIONAL audience by at least adding English subtitles.
I hope Inter youtube channel could provide subtitle at least. And maybe add more entertaining program like challenges, games among players to boost views and audiences.
Looks very good, let’s see how he manages.
Quite impressive CV! I think this is smart move by management, cause put a strong person in communication dept. Also, maybe the ex-UEFA ties will help us on make a communication to UEFA regarding to the club plan to lower or compromise the FFP sanction in the future (if there will be another sanction).
Overall, in my perspective, the Thohir’s regime put the supporter as the primary income, rather than individual as a patron as the main income. Therefore, his management need to gather as many as supporters from around the world, and make them feel have a close ties with the club. Its a hard job, but very promising!
Always feels great to know that we have professional on the board office, but personally i just can’t wait for the result. I hope the reinforcement of the staff can lead to better Inter for all of us Interista…
Also… When we can watch inter on Inter’s Youtube channel or Inter Channel for free…?? Since most of us can’t afford for paid TV cable, and also Inter’s game not available on every country, i hate random streaming with unstable link…
The second part will never happen.
I find it ironic that inter’s youtube channel and Inter TV are alienating fans outside italy.
It’s Internazionale, they should embrace the fans supporting the club in other countries
True, everything is in italian -.-
Absolutely true. Goodness. We’re still ancient in that regard.
We want the team to sign good players and start wining trophies. But guess what. That can only happen if they fix the income side of the equation. First they need to start making money before they can spend it on expensive (sought after) players. Money comes from TV rights, jerseys, memberships. Real Madrid and Barcelona sell everything they can (no freebies), that is how they make money. So, I am sorry but forget about free games (that would be stupid from their side. I do hope in the future they establish a system where you can buy individual games online (at least repeats). By the way, those unstable links you are mentioning are pirated signals, so don’t even go there.
those unstable links are basically placed illegally—you don’t like them, don’t use them. (HP 2015)
2nd part will completely defeat the purpose of Television Rights, where a majority of our annual income comes from…
