It was a long time since an Inter game left me speechless. But here I am after 40 minutes, supposed to wrap the match up and I can’t manage to write a single word. Before the season started, looking at the schedule I claimed that Inter would need at least 12 points during the first five games to compete for something. That was of course believing that Juventus, Roma and Napoli would be playing better than they are. Now we’re here, having won all games that we’ve played whilst Juve draw against Frosinone, Roma lose against Sampdoria and Napoli draw against Carpi. If exactly everything has gone against us the last few years, at the moment it seems like everything is going with us.
Inter started the game out seeming a bit tired. The tempo was low and nothing worth mentioning happened during the first 40 minutes of the first half. The last five minutes of the first half, Inter started to play better and created some chances without managing to score. The second half Inter played a lot better and Hellas weren’t able to break out of their own half for a long period until they finally managed to counter. Sala profited from an error from Telles and struck against goal. The bar saved Inter who reacted well to the opportunity and on the following corner, Felipe Melo scored for Inter.
Now I knew that Felipe Melo was charismatic. I knew he was a great leader and was an aggressive players who wouldn’t be scared to take yellow cards when needed. But what I didn’t know was that his footballing skills were so good. The guy is an absolute beast rocking the midfield, winning possession, driving forward with the ball, putting his teammates in good positions with his passes and the goal he scored was absolute class. Timing, power and precision. Many were negative about the Melo signing but I guess he has now conquested the whole black and blue world. I belong to Melo and I guess you do to.
More than the positives there were a lot of players who seemed tired today. Santon had a horror show, Guarin was last years Guarin and Kondogbia looked tired. Ljajic tried his best to do something but it was clear he is missing a lot to reach his best form. Jovetic came on and was sloppy in many situations were Inter could’ve made it 2-0. A positive note was that Biabiany came back from his heart problems to play at the San Siro and no matter what you think about his footballing skills, it’s great to see a good guy like the French winger play at the San Siro again. I wish that Biabiany can play his part in this Inter but I’d also wish to see Brozovic in this game. When Guarin is playing as bad as he is, why doesn’t Brozovic come on? The kid was a key player for Mancini in the beginning but seems to have lost out on everything.
Looking forward I wish for Inter to remain calm with their feet on the ground. After all, on Sunday we’re playing Fiorentina and a loss against the Viola would mean we no longer lead the Serie A. Though the enthusiasm is all over in the Inter part of Milano, for the first time in a very long time the Nerazzurri fans are looking forward to Inter’s games with excitement and hope. For the first time in a very long time things are going our way and the shots that would’ve punished us last season or before that, are now hitting the bar.
Hoping that this momentum will go on for as long as possible I look forward to see how things evolve. Inter is giving a lot of certainties. The team will fight until the end of every game and is very hard to beat. The team is aggressive and covers up for one another. The team is clearly inspired by Felipe Melo’s arrival, playing style and the positive results. To conclude we finally seem to have a great defense again.
Until the game against Fiorentina, Forza Inter and one thing is for sure: I belong to Melo. Do you?

As many others said, i was skeptical about Melo arrival and I’m happy that until now he proves me wrong. But as himself said, it’s not that important how we gonna start, but how we gonna finish the season. Five victories in a row is a dream start of the season. But it’s obvious that we’re still have a lot work to do, especially in attack. Until now we’re winning in a very economic way, have a lot of luck. But you can’t rely on that all season, especially if you’re aiming in top three. The best thing this season is that we have big rotation and everybody have good replacement, except maybe Icardi. That’s very important when you’re looking for whole season constant play and results.
i hope brozovic plays against fiorentina, guarin was very poor today
it’s matter of fitness against fiorentina, i feel we’ll beat them too 😀
I belong to Jesus Christ, but very happy with Inter and Melo at the moment. From an Inter fan in New Zealand since 1996
JoJo needs to keep his head down and play for the team… He was too selfish and cocky and I think he couldn’t play any worse.
he wasn’t selfish before 🙁
Yeah, looks like it is the effect of those first two games.
I belong to inter! AND FELIPE MELO FOR TODAY!
Yeah, i keep on thinking until now, why didnt Mancio sub Guarin with Brozovic, and why biabiany step on for KDog, instead of Gnokouri to secure the midfield. Ever since KDog left the field, we lost the grip on this match.
Anyway, we enjoy this result for now, i have got the bragging rights until this weekend 😀
Hey man, in my opinion, because Inter were dominating the midfield and Verona used parking bus tactic. Meanwhile, Mancini wanted to kill the match, he desperately needed second goal and wanted to rest KDog, thats why Biabiany came in and transformed to 4-2-3-1 formation with Melo and Guaro in the center of midfield. In the end of the match, Rano came in as they once again transformed to 3-4-3 system.
Just my opinion, cheers.
Pretty accurate and one very key point about Mancini’s “weird” substitutions. Notice how crucial pairs like the CBs and later match 2 CDMs of Guarin+melo speak the same language (s). Dunno how the triple m&ms Italian is but medel always struck me as a bit of a tevez ie wuns CL this n that yet speaks no English at man Utd, legend.
Last Sunday, ´´Guarin was a shadow of his derby game´´.
Today, ´´Guarin was last years Guarin´´.
Its declining with Guarin…
hope he will bounce back soon.. we need him.. he is a great player when he plays well.. the problem is his playing well matches are few and far between
I think he plays his best games against strong opponents. He will shine against Fiorentina, hopefully.
Guarin needs a constant challenge and specific instructions or he becomes a bit lost in such games. Adrenaline can take him over leading to Dr Jekyll and he’s an emotional person obviously. Law of the booze states Guarin will score and assist in one game every 4 games. I made the last part up.
I have no problem with Guarin if he plays decent a cooule of games, when the rest of team is performing, and every now and then wins us a game with an assist or a goal. Hope tha’s what will happen with Fiore!
To be honest looking at Roma or juve last season, guarins form wouldn’t be much different to Vidal or nainggolan. He just seems to stand or stick out.
it’s not matter of consistency… guarin is skillful as god but have mental problem. he was striker in academy… basically he hasnt learned to be a midfielder
guaro isn’t that skillful. he tries to dribble through four players like he’s maradona or something, when he should just be playing a simple pass. it’s what makes him so frustrating
“he should just be playing a simple pass” < thats!!!
this title will anger soo many of his haters lool
as i said again, melo is far from a destroyer and is truly underrated. people are just reliesing how great of a player he is. i made my opinion way before he came. which was i bashed for.
think for yourself. don’t be a sheep. Forza inter.
You can blame the skepticism on the fact that not many of us kept watching him for the past four years. Everyones impression of him was that of 2010.
yeah. i never stopped watching him. actually i watch a alot football.
